Today is Veteran’s Day. Today we salute you.
The tribe completed a classic #NP_MSP workout this morning with a new twist. The Stone Arch Shuttle is a great workout for us to put on in the winter time as the Stone Arch Bridge is a little less crowded with run/bike commuters. However, it’s always fun to give it a go before the snow falls just to see how fast we all are.
The workout started in the middle of the Stone Arch Bridge on the raised landing that is part of the run/walk lane. Chalk lines went out in either direction with numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, & 10. The 2’s were closest to the start an the 10’s were the furthest away being at the ends of the bridge. Tribe members paired up on the warm up and then split to opposite sides to start. Half of the tribe started out sprinting towards the west river side and half towards the east. At each mark on the bridge, tribe members did 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 burpees, whatever corresponded with the number at the station they were at. After completing the burpees, tribe members ran back to the start, grabbed a partner and did 4 hoisties, and then switched sides. So for example, if I started in the middle and went east first, I would complete my burpees, run back to the start, complete my hoisties, then run out to the west side and complete my burpees, run back, so on so forth until I had completed all burpees at all stations on both sides of the bridge. The first person to be done (Pat Lowder) rang a cowbell and the tribe congregated back at the start for one more thing.
This last part was hard, fun, and confusing. The tribe partnered off and this time actually utilized their partners. Partner 1 set off sprinting to the first pole after the start line going towards the east bank. Once there, they dropped down into a plank and called out a phrase or noise to their partner to signify that they could start their sprint. Partner 2 sprinted out to the second pole going east and so on so forth until one set of partners reached the east bank. Once one team reached the east bank, the entire tribe made one last good-hearted sprint back to the start line.
This workout is hard, it always is. Whether rain or snow of shine, it always kicks everyone’s a$$. Great job today guys, way to #getafterit.
