Sarah Ting Tells Scary Stories (SF)

You’re supposed to learn something new every day. And today I learned that Sarah Ting tells really scary stories.

Amidst my failure today in dismissing everyone before hearing the great history of Stowe Lake/Huntington Falls (also, not taking a waterfall photo? I must have blacked out), Sarah reminded me that she had a story to share about the place.

And then she proceeded to scare everyone’s pants off. Yes, I’m lumping everyone in with me since my pants were scared off. And I don’t like feeling alone after scary stories.

The full story is here if you want it but the cliff notes version is there was once a woman who came to this lake with her baby in a stroller. She sat on a bench and talked to someone. While her back was turned her stroller went into the water with the baby. Katy Davis piped up at this point but there’s no way Tommy would allow himself to roll into the water. We know you, Tommy.

When she finally got up to look for her lost baby, she looked everywhere. Then she looked in the lake. And she never came out.

What?!

But the scariest part of the story is this:
“Another rumor is said that, if someone says “White lady, white lady, I have your baby” three times, the lady will appear. She’ll ask you, “Have you seen my baby?” If you say yes, she’ll haunt you and if you say no, she’ll kill you.”

And with that, the tribe smiled their way off to a great Friday. Definitely not thinking creepy thoughts. Definitely not.
