R.I.P The Slurpee we once knew…

Well, my childhood memories will never be the same. The sun was shining bright over Kate Sessions, the mood was high, the hugs were borderline inappropriate, Lindsay gave me a massage – all BEFORE 6:29am – it was going to be a good day! Then 6:34 hit, and we were all blindsided with the reality that the frosty, sugary, deliciously tasty treat we all grew up begging for whenever you passed by a 7-Eleven, was all a facade. The Slurpee. I think it had a theme song. I think spilled a blue one all over my Mom’s minivan. I’m sure the reason I consistently lose my keys is due to the repeated brain freeze I experienced as child. But alas, I don’t think I will ever be able to drink another one after the Slurpee massacre that occurred today.

Now I’m sure you’re envisioning something heavenly, much akin to the great tomato fight in Seattle, or frolicking through the cranberry bogs of Cape Cod… but you stop that right now. There were no spoon straws, no blue raspberry, no dome tops, no Mountain Dew, not even a goddamn fruit punch flavor to be found. Today we Slurpeed. Slurpeed – as in SINGLE. LEG. BURPEES. – I’ll pause to let that sink in…

Yeah it was kind of like that. Ya’ll were animals today – and not just during the bear crawls. I’m still impressed that no body blew chunks. Get after it this week – ya earned it good… and if anyone happens to pass by a 7-Eleven, pay the Slurpee some respect.
