As we were in the car after the workout, Ben started talking to me about a singular seal that was discovered somewhere around Russia, or Japan, or somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. I got a little lost during that part. This seal was a funny looking kinda fella, all orange fur with bright blue eyes. I believe it’s even called the Ginger Seal.

He spoke about how humans stepped in and essentially saved this seal from a certain doom because it’s pack or tribe or whatever you call a group of seals were like “hey man, you look weird. We don’t really want you hanging around us any more.” And out he went. Just a lonely Ginger Seal stuck in some hell hole in Russia or Japan or wherever.

And then, being the cult-obsessed person that I am, immediately related this dude’s situation to how it would be if instead of a seal it was a person feeling alone and isolated in Los Angeles, and the pack being the tribe when they come to a workout for the first time. They’d get hugged. They’d get hi fives. They’d get a group of folks that are just really fucking stoked that you’re there. Even if you are a huge ginger freak. Honestly if a 6’5” red head with blue eyes showed up one day, I’d be hyped as hell.

This tribe is for everyone and anyone that shows up. We’re about to close a chapter here at NP LAX but more importantly we have the opportunity to write a fresh new future. We had a solid crew today who showed up and became #weatherproof, potentially for the first time ever. They were strong, they had a fuck ton of fun, and everyone there knew they belonged next to the people around them. The VIBE is strong with this tribe every time no matter who shows up. But here’s my goal – the next time we have a rain in LA, something that may not happen in a long while… I want twice the people there. Keep sharing this with the people you come across in your life. Let’s get this city on board with some free fitness that can also feel like a home. A weird, traveling circus kind of home.

I’m pretty damn excited to start writing that future. Do great, LA.
