Mister Concrete

Mister Concrete. Miss D. Concrete.

Misstah Concrete. Miss Dah Concrete.

Misstyah Concrete. Miss Tya Concrete.

Missedya Concrete.

Missed You, Concrete.

Whether it’s been 2 months, or 2 years since we last saw them, we’ve started to see OG NPers (former hard core November Project Members who stopped coming for <insert babies, jobs, relocations, etc. reason here>) start showing up at 530 and 630am in the last few weeks. Where have they been? Hibernating? Travelling? Moved away? When I see these people I always call them “Misstah Concrete!” or “Miss Da Concrete!” The name originated from the one and only Smooth–who I dubbed Mister Concrete based on three things:

  1. The way he flies down the big steps.
  2. His mysterious disappearance and reappearance.
  3. The fact that he missed the concrete steps of Harvard Stadium while he was gone.

But others have started donning the cape of “Mistah Concrete.” Yesterday morning saw the Rachel Nelsons, Eugene Kims, and Scott Champagnes of the world.*

’cause at Harvard Stadium, you’re never really “done.” You just miss it. You’re never “not coming back.” You just miss the concrete.

We all have a love/hate relationship with that concrete. Or more like a ‘love-to-hate’ relationship.

Those stairs are magical. They bring people together. They make you sweat, and for some reason when stacked altogether to make a full-tour, they make one of THE BEST workouts in the world. End to end, all out. It’s why we love Wednesdays so much. This morning was hilarious, and fun, and fast, and brought a crap ton of newbies, and a crap ton of Mr. and Mrs. Concretes. This summer is certainly shaping up to be incredible. Don’t miss the concrete. Come meet it every Wednesday morning.

This Friday we’re back on Summit Ave for Indiana Junes.
Next Wednesday we’re doing YEARBOOK PHOTO DAY.
10 days from now (6/23) we’re creating something special.

You don’t want to miss these happenings in the #freeFitness world.

Much Love,
– C. Payne

*We even saw Maks turn 1. I don’t think Maks qualifies as Mistah Concrete just yet, but I still thought it was hilarious.
