Know Your Tribe – Jake DillaBOSS

Today’s KYT comes to you from someone that actually hasn’t been around that long in the grand scheme of things, but somehow feels like he’s been here since the beginning. He’s somehow from Buffalo and Cleveland, but also bleeds dirty water. He’s all things November Project — he shows up for literally everything we do. And when I say “shows up” I mean he shows the fuck up and works his ass off at every. single. workout. He’s always one of the first people there, and the last to leave. You definitely know this dude already, but in case you don’t… The legendary Jakedill A. Boss

Name: Jake Dillabaugh
Alias/Nickname: Jake Dillaboss or Jack if you’re Emily Saul and can’t remember someone’s name after
like 5 workouts!
Date of First Workout: April 1 st , 2016
Why’d you just show up?: My sister was in the DC tribe and demanded that I come try out the Boston
tribe, when I moved here. She even sent me specific directions on how to get from my apartment to the
workout at the hills the next morning. I read the blog the night before and saw that the Town of
Brookline had “cancelled the workout..”, but I figured it had to be a prank based on my limited
knowledge of NP. I figured if it was actually cancelled I still get a good run in, but if not I’d get to go to
my first workout.
Bostonian or Transplant: Porque no los dos? I’m a transplant to Boston but Boston is my first and home
tribe
Tribes Visited: San Francisco, Philly, Kansas City
Tribe Crush: Mancrush on the Two Little Boy Cones: Obviously! For real though, Morgan
(#deliberateconfusion!)
Favorite NP Day of the Week: Mondays – Getting to run to a different part of the city every Monday has
allowed me to explore so much more of the city than I ever expected to in my first year here. Covering
so much distance, and seeing places that few people get to see has made this place feel so much more
like home.
Favorite Recurring Workout: Indiana Jones
Least Favorite Recurring Workout: Relayman: Love getting to partner with someone new, but it kills my
legs and I always feel like I’m going to dive face first down the steps.
Anyone inspire you at the Workout: Eric Klawiter – I have a feeling there’s a solid chunk of NP that is
incredibly inspired by the dynamic duo and family that are the Klawiters. Who hasn’t said “I want to be
Eric or Erika when I grow up”? Eric you’re not only an insanely athletic buttcarrot to pursue, but you
seem to be a boss in all that you do, from your work to parenting to just being there for people that
need it. So glad you’re here!
Why do you keep showing up: Well the second opportunity I had for a workout ended up being the day
that NP took over Fenway Park. I was a scrub and slept in, and missed that amazing experience. From
that day on I promised to NEVER miss a workout if I was not challenged by geographic location. Other
than that, it’s the absolutely amazing community that I am so grateful to be a part of. This tribe has
connected me to so many amazing people that I probably never would have met otherwise, and has
made Boston a home to me beyond what I ever expected. Thank you all so much! I love you all!

What do you do for a living?: I am currently finishing up my Masters in Sociology at BC, hopefully
heading on to my Doctorate and sticking around Boston next year.
When you were a child what did you want to be: When I was really little I always wanted to play
baseball for the Cleveland Indians and be on a team that didn’t choke in the playoffs (#toosoon). When I
realized that neither I, nor the team, were nowhere near good enough for that, I eventually settled on a
teacher, which I’m landing pretty close to!
What is my superpower: One-man steering wheel air band/singalong harmonizer on any and all road
trips.
What’s a question that wasn’t on here?: Honoring the mind of C Payne – Boxers, Briefs, Thong, or
Commando? Answer: Depends on which date it is..
