It’s not ‘Goodbye’, it’s ‘See you later’.

Oh, boy. I have been dreading writing this. Okay, not dreading, more like neglecting. Okay, not neglecting, more like procrastinating. Okay, not procrastinating, more like living in denial. There, I said it. I live in denial. I don’t want to leave. I don’t want to leave you, my city, our tribe. But sometimes you gotta put on your big girl pants and tackle the next challenge.

Starting November Project Indy was exactly that; a challenge. When I first heard about November Project, I said to myself “Indianapolis needs this. Someone should start a tribe here.” Not even fourty eight hours later, I said to myself “F*ck it, I will do it.” It literally started with me, in November of 2013 just before the first polar vortex—you know the one. Back then, the boys: BG and Bojan—whom I have since coined “The Mothership” had stricter rules. When you were pledging a tribe, you could not use the words “November Project” to explain it.  So…it’s temporarily like fight club essentially. I remember saying “I can’t tell you exactly what it will be, other than it will be f*cking amazing.”

While I am super proud that Indy was part of the #Power10, I am even more proud of the connections that have been made as a result of #NP_IND. We are a close nit tribe; closer than most of the now thirty tribes and counting. I think that boils down to an individual appreciation for every single human being that shows up and our Hoosier hospitality. The truth is we need each other. I have met so many people. You have met so many people—that you otherwise very likely would have never met…and those people have become your people and have become an integral part of your life. #ThisShitIsGood. #DrinkTheKoolaid. #NotACult.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. First, thank you to BG and Bojan for believing in me. Crazy, f*ckers. Thank you to my twitter friends in BOS whom have evolved from blind #NP_IND supporters to real life friends: Ben and Jenn O’Meara, and Elin Flashdance. Thank you to my Indy crew: Nick, Brigid, Leeza, Michelle, Brad, Virginia, Courtney, Dangerman, Ed, Jessie, Macko, Gray x 5, KGergs, Seven Layer, Jordo, CaseyDawg, Stew—you all have seen …all the thangs… to FRANK, Joey, Anne, Jaden, Preacher James, Teacher Jon, Kamwendo x 2, Dise, Brit and the many, many more dedicated regulars who just show up every week regardless of what happens in life or how much tequila they drink on Tuesday night. Thank you for showing up. #NP_IND exists because YOU show up, again and again. Thank you to Biggie Shaws—for being the co-leader of my dreams. Fo realz, bro—you have made my NP life so much less stressful since coming on board. You hit the ground running full steam ahead. You have kicked ass and taken/know all the names. I am thankful that I can leave with a peaceful heart while confidently knowing the tribe is safely in your ever capable hands and you will have CaseDawg alongside you.

My inner mantra writing this and showing up yesterday was…”I’m not gonna cry, I’m not gonna cry.”… in reality, “aww, f*ck it.” I love you fools. You have enriched my life so much. And this is not this is not ‘Goodbye’, it’s ‘See you later’.
