Holidays In SF (Guest Blog)

Today’s blog comes from our guest coleaders, Lindsay Bolt and Caity Rogowski. Great tribe members who put their own spin on today’s Lombard St. workout. Ninja style…

Holidays in a city like San Francisco are unlike how they play out in most of our fellow tribes around the world. San Francisco and the Bay Area is a place filled with folks from other places, and in most cases those folks head back to those places for holiday shenanigans. Our coleaders are among those that typically take flight. And so, the tribe is left in the willing hands of brave souls willing to get up a little earlier than everyone else, willing to take a hit to their sweat regimen, willing to find a way to make cheering their tribe on a cardiovascular experience instead of running alongside.

Caity and I were honored to be your substitute co-leaders today. We are also really proud that we didn’t forget anything. Welcome to first timers, and appreciate the visits from other tribes! We bounced! “I’m on a hill!”(Caity – I think that one’s gonna need to come back again, it’s pretty great and deserves more volume than we could afford this morning) Lombard Street did not disappoint, you always know a hill is hard when more people than you would like are taking a break at the top before the sunrise is even worth looking at.

We got really lucky with cars, meaning there were very few to dodge and folks were super sweet with following our incredibly conservative plan in order to avoid police activity. As much as I love neon on our tribe, a little ninja time every so often looks pretty rad. In the end we may have recruited a new member from MUNI for hills hosted near the trolley car tracks! The MUNI crew are looking forward to our next trolley chase workout, at the very least.

For me, the thing that I appreciate the most is that in this community people really do just show up. Sometimes they show up just to be of support and knock out a work out while they’re at it. I said it this morning I’ll say it again, Caity and I were really grateful to see you all this morning and we had a blast and we only wish it could’ve lasted longer!! Thanks to those who are among the non-native’s who stuck around long enough to play, and to the natives and locals that joined us because they already are home for the holidays!

PS: shout out to Toby for being a bad ass pup on that hill and to Pete Kruse for tapping on us photo takers for some bonus burpee’s and to Perry for being a cheerleader and photo taker. And to Bob and Becky Bolt for waking up on time and being game!
