Fridays at Doheny

When I first moved to LA, I knew one person. My buddy Kyle had moved up a year or so before I did. I reached out to Kyle and asked if he could introduce me to some people. The first person I met was Tod. About a week or so after I met Tod, he sent me a text message on a Tuesday night asking if I wanted to go workout at 6:30 the next morning. Seeing as how I had no friends and didn’t work until 10am I said fuck it, why not. The next morning I picked Tod up, and drove to the Hollywood Bowl for my first November Project workout. The first person I met was Angelo. (Angelo wrote a pretty great blog on Wednesday. If you haven’t read it CLICK HERE.)  By the end of the workout, after I finished puking, I had met about 15-20 other people. As the weeks went by these strangers became my friends, and then my family. I knew I was showing up to the workouts because I wanted to get back in shape, but it turned into much more than just a workout. I found a group of people who didn’t care if you were weird, if you were fast or slow, who were willing to engage in epic squatpliment sessions, and who supported you. When we say that we’re glad you’re here, it is sincere. Human connection is one of the core values of November Project, and I am thankful to be a part of the weirdest tribe NP knows.

Do Good, LA

NEWS:

ECSCA
  • November 18 in San Fran
  • #NFECSCA aka North Face Endurance Challenge Series California. This is always an awesome time. This is part of the race series that Summit is always a part of. Consider this to be like a mini-NP Summit. Marathon relay is the most popular choice and you can race it with 3 other friends. Check it out, get a crew together, and sign up!

Random Fact: When LA was founded, the city’s full name was “El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora Reina de los Angeles sobre el Rio Porciuncula.” (If your Spanish is rusty, that translates to “The town of our lady queen of the angels on the Porciuncula River.”)
