Happy April (AKA Cherry Blossom season) NPDC family and friends!

It’s been such a joy and a great time being able to connect with everyone through FB, IG`, Zoom and fly-by workouts at the good ‘ol Lincoln Memorial. Since the complete halt of Mural Mondays, we as a community have been meeting throughout the Covid-19 pandemic via both Zoom and more recently through fly-by workouts.
As the pandemic conditions have started to show signs of improvement here in DC, we have been preparing diligently to bring back scheduled in-person workouts in the most safe and efficient manner possible for our community.
As leaders, we believe transparency is crucial to our community and sharing our intent to resume in-person workouts with our community is extremely important.
This week, we have received our official stamp of approval to resume our workouts at the Lincoln Memorial from the National Park Service.
What does this mean for our NPDC community and what does safe return to in-person workouts look like?
The big news: We will be transitioning to TWO scheduled workouts per week starting 14 APR 2021. Read below for details.
-Monday Zoom sessions will be in place until further notice; we will continue to hold this space for our community members who are not yet ready to join us at the in-person workouts on Wednesdays
-Wednesdays: We will resume our Wednesday workouts at the Lincoln Memorial w/ modifications as listed below:
-Instead of offering both 5:30 and 6:30 AM workouts, we will be holding workouts on a modified schedule from 6:00-7:00 AM.
-Sign-ups via online; this will ensure that we’re able to adhere to most up-to-date DC Public Health guidance / NPS gathering limit size. Currently, the size limit for outdoor gatherings is 50 people with safe distancing in place.
-Morning bounces will be on temporary hold; more to follow in the future
-Social distancing (6 feet, 2 meters, or two arms’ distance, per the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and masks are required. Buffs are acceptable as masks, but if the material is particularly thin, please consider doubling it over.
The elephant in the room: What if someone at the workout tests positive for Covid-19?
Safety is our top concern as we put together these workouts. While the above mitigation strategies can help mitigate exposure risk, we cannot say they’re risk free.
If you aren’t feeling well, do not come to the workout. We’ll miss you, but we want you to rest up and get better. If you know in advance that you aren’t feeling well, or are going to miss the workout you’ve signed up for (when that’s applicable) let us know in advance so we can allocate your spot to someone else if there’s a waitlist.
If you receive a positive Covid-19 test up to two days after coming to a November Project DC in-person workout, let us know immediately. (Typically, SARS-CoV-2 takes four to five days to incubate to the point where someone is symptomatic. The first two days after exposure, people are usually not infectious; the following two days before they develop symptoms, they are infectious.) We will contact everyone on the signup sheet and let them know that someone at the workout tested positive; this way, your privacy is protected.
With these safety measures in place, no one at our workouts would be considered a contact by US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention standards, and would not be required to quarantine if they attended a workout where another member later tested positive. However, given that tests are free, it’s not a bad idea to get yourself tested to make sure you’re safe. If you elect a PCR test, which looks for the genetic material of SARS-CoV-2, please wait four days after the workout to ensure accurate results. If you elect a rapid antigen test, please wait 5 or 6 days to ensure an accurate result.
If you are alerted that you have been exposed to someone who has Covid-19 after you coming to a workout, you may not have been infectious by the time you attended the workout. It depends on the timing. If this happens, let us know and we’ll make a decision to go forward.
We love you, NPDC community, and we look forward to seeing you all soon via both Zoom and in-person at the beloved Lincoln Memorial.
Much Love,
Foley, Jolly and Young
