Yup. The title sums it up. NP Toronto is going strong and we’re so happy we don’t know whether to shit or go blind (one of my favourite lines from one of my favourite books, “Angela’s Ashes).
It was dark. It was cold (1C). But we still had 3 yahoos show up in shorts….nevertheless they are the coolest yahoos I know (Sam, Ryan, and Krizka) and I am intrigued to see how long they will dare to keep showing up in shorts. I think I’ve just started a competition. Now we’ll see who caves first and who sticks it out the longest. Remember, you all signed waivers. If you get frost bite it’s your own fault 🙂
When Sam told me he thought up this workout that included lots of tennis balls I immediately pictured us throwing them at each other and couldn’t figure how that kind of activity would be a hit with the majority of our group. As usual, Sam never disappoints and shows again that he’s one of the clever sort. With his neatest of writing we had the amusement of drawing 2 tennis balls at a time, one from either of the two bags. One bag contained tennis balls with random numbers written on them and the other bag had tennis balls labelled with various exercises. For example, you could draw the number 10 from one bag and draw Burpees from the other. 4 rounds of lots of tennis balls and 4×2 stair runs created a lot of heavy breathing. Great success.
This year NP YYZ was born. Here’s a quick re-cap of our timeline highlights!
March: The initiative of NP Toronto was brought forth.
May: Claire found Sam to help co-lead (Sam, you are the BEST!), Claire & Sam created “Pledge TO Fitness” and we started with 4 people.
July: To boost our stride and give us Torontonians a taste of the real deal we had Bojan grace us to lead a Pop Up NP workout.
September: We had a surprise visit from John (co-leader of NP NYC) to join us for a workout and BOOM! we were officially dubbed “November Project Toronto” and welcomed into the best free fitness movement that is now TAKING OVER THE WORLD!
Sam and I couldn’t be more honoured and grateful to be part of such an amazing community and have the chance to bring the passion for fitness, fun, & friendship to Toronto.
In closing, I’ve attached below a piece of art (created by a dear friend) to share as inspiration going into the New Year.
Wishing everyone a wonderful start to 2016. Can’t wait to see all that next year has in store for November Project! Much Love to All 🙂Share via socials:
