Today we had a bit of an I’m-not-ready-for-this wake up call. This morning tested our weatherproof-ness, our get-up-out-of-bed-ness, and our lets-start-the-day-great-ness. Don’t hashtag me, but when the alarms buzzed this morning, it was dark and foggy in Denver. When we drew our curtains, we saw remnants of last night’s rain. Our beds were hugging us soft and cozy, and our brains were seeking REM for just another 15, 20, or 78 minutes.
But then BAM: we are huddled together in a tribal bounce at the Civic Center Amphitheater, we are collectively welcoming newbies in our circle of trust, we are sprinting on the General’s cue, we are working as a team climbing, running, counting, cheering. Then we took a giant tribal squat, as an unintended slow clap overshadowed the lactic buildup in our rock solid hamstringers. And finally, the climactic group shot: hands on knees, forward gaze, no smiles. Click (well, red light blink for a few more seconds, in our case): You are now free to move about the cabin, execute 5-high fives, and busta move to “Call Me Maybe.”
Goodbye bed. Goodbye weather report. Hello greatness,
FRIDAY: We make our triumphant return to the stoic hill of Governor’s Park (701 Pennsylvania St). We also will crowd surf a Cooley for his birthday.
WEDNESDAY: We run stairs at the Capitol Building (14th & Lincoln).
PARTY HYPE: Sunday August 17th. Clear your calendars for the socially-fit event of the year: #BetterThanBedtime.
HOMECOMING RACE: Saturday September 13th. Since most of you are wholesome mid-westerners, here’s an excuse to visit mom and dad and not miss out on the crazy awesome #ColoradoTimewarpWeekends that we’ve become accustomed to. Grab a friend for the marathon relay, and we’ll hook you up with an XX% discount code for registration to the NorthFace Endurance Challenge in Wisconsin.Share via socials:
