Being Mindful (YEG)

Today I was reminded of an important lesson – be mindful.

I was running with an amazing 7-year-old when time was called. As we were headed back to the first set of stairs she said she wanted to pause & walk for a second. During our break, we were chatting about her crushing the stairs she mentioned that sometimes when she doesn’t have enough to drink or eat she gets a pain in her side, hence the requested break. I talked about how to breath when that pain happens and a little about pacing and her response was simple, “and sometimes, you just need to be mindful of your body.” What an insightful statement from this strong, determined, cheerful 7-year-old, who was fully present and gave it her all today. So simple and so true, sometimes you just need to be mindful of your body. That might mean that you need to take a break, or push harder, or sleep in and get more rest, or ___fill-in-the-blank__.

I love that showing up to a November Project workout allows me not only to get my heart rate up with a good sweat and connect with people, it also provides space for us to learn from each other. We have much to give and receive. I am grateful to Viv today for reminding me to be mindful. What do you need to be mindful of?
