That’s a wrap for #Beachtober!
Bring your own pumpkin day is and always has been one of my favorite workouts for a variety of reasons. The danger that is added to squats by tossing a pumpkin back and forth while not impaling yourself with the stem really highlights #safetythird. Mourning over pumpkins that have been sacrificed to the law of gravity and cold hard sand. Increasing the difficulty of running in loose sand by carrying a pumpkin during the most intense relay race of your life. However, the biggest reason I love BYOP day is the giddiness within the tribe.
For whatever reason, pumpkins make people happy. Sure they make some delicious pies, and their seeds are a great snack once roasted. Pumpkins also are a symbol for Fall. California doesn’t know much about seasons, but Fall is pretty awesome. For starters, Fall has Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving, or Friendsgiving (or Slapsgiving!) is one of my favorite holidays because it brings people together. November Project also brings people together. Come to think of it, November Project started in the Fall! It’s this point in the blog where you realize I’ve let my mind wander again, which leads to some incoherent sentences occasionally. Where was I? Oh right, PUMPKINS! I’m not saying that November Project is a giant pumpkin, but I’m not not saying that November Project is a giant pumpkin. A big ol’ gourd that brings people together and changes your face into a smile. Or a straight face because let’s face it, blank expressions in moments of pure joy are always funny.
Do good and be happy, LA
