This week we sent out our first SHOVEL CREW call out.
Ready at a moment’s notice, Jen and Korey met us at the Veterans Memorial to dig through the compacted snow in search of the sidewalk. This newly renovated space is frequently used, as evidenced by the routes created by people walking through the snow. Could we have used the Memorial as we found it, trekking through the snow? Sure. Would it have been a fun, added challenge to compete against the snow? Definitely.
It’s the dog days of winter. It’s dark till damn near noon, it’s cold AF, and snow is the new normal. Luckily, GR is stronger than a little winter weather.
This week Yoshi brought the FIRE with his best Montell Jordan GR rendition of This is How We Do it. We also celebrated the 2018 Winter Olympics with all sorts of semi-olympic themed exercises with some hills sprinkled in for good measure. The grand finale, a team Iditarod relay. (Shout out to tribe member Jill who is doing the Iditarod Trail Invitational 350 mile bike race later this month)
The greatest philosopher of our generation, Kanye West, once said, “Reach for the stars so if you fall, you land on the clouds.”
We as co-leaders of this worldwide movement are privileged every day to be inspired by the individuals who surround us. The bravery to set audacious goals, to push through barriers, and strive to be the best version of ourselves.
At its core, November Project GR is about spreading fitness, and promoting real life connection and interaction, by emphasizing positivity and accountability. We are #weatherproof. We #raceeverything. We #justshowup. We began as Carpe Diem GR to make our days count. We continue to build upon that as November Project GR by encouraging greater involvement with our city and communities.
