KBC ditches DC– in the nicest way possible (DCA)

THANK. YOU.

Dear November Project DC-

A little over two years ago on a cold December morning at 5:30am, I showed up to my first November Project workout at Lincoln with my chocolate sprinkle, Macon. Approximately 5 seconds into the bounce she turned to me and said- “We’ve found our people”.

#NP_DC makes me want to jump for JOY

And it was true. You have been there for me every week, three times a week, for the past two+ years. I could never have imagined finding a community as loving, fun, and inspiring of fitness as you are. The workouts challenged me, made me a better runner, and more importantly- a better person. I find myself cheering people on in “regular pay for it” gyms now, and am always always giving hips in hugs. Even when work obligations took me away from you I knew I’d be welcomed back with open arms each time I showed up, no judgement or shame. read more

New Year, New Adventures (DCA)

Let me start by saying that this is not only a loss for the November Project DC Tribe, this is a loss for Washington, D.C. as a whole. That is the power of Kim and Jim. They take the values we talk about at workouts — spreading positivity to all, being inclusive, trying to bring more kindness to our community — and they apply them in the real world. It’s fantastic and it has given us all a standard to live up to and to replicate. read more

Hashtag GOALS (DCA)

Maybe you’ve seen it in the comments sections of your Instagram. “Oh my GOD. Your hair is #goals. Your dress is #goals. Your life is #goals.” Jake Lloyd DEFINITELY has seen all three. In an attempt to not sound trite and call this a New Year’s resolution post, let’s talk about goals. We set the bar high in 2016. For a look back at our incredible year, see our recap. read more

Baby, It’s Cold Outside (DCA)

Four simple words. Numerous iterations of a classic. Maybe you’re a purist and love the Dean Martin version, maybe you’re more contemporary and dig the Jessica Simpson version — or maybe you ABSOLUTELY LIVE FOR the Will Ferrell-Zoey Deschanel version from Elf.

We love to smile. Smiling is our favorite.
We love to smile. Smiling is our favorite.

I’m not here to tell you which version is the best (it’s the Jimmy Buffett one, OBVIOUSLY). I AM here to present you with an alternative to this holiday classic. Suspend belief for five minutes, imagine I have a good singing voice, and listen to the NP version: read more

What a Wonderful World.

Louis Armstrong had it fucking right you guys, we do live in a wonderful world. My world is made all the more wonderful every Monday, Wednesday and Friday BECAUSE of November Project.  If you’re pissed, if you’re devastated, if you’re elated – JUST SHOW UP, we’ll be there and I GUARANTEE you will feel better leaving than you did when you arrived (endorphins, man).  read more

Cheers to 5 Years

As we ruminate on FIVE YEARS of November Project this week, I’m left near-speechless, the operative phrase is “near,”  when I think about all this Tribe (and the 31 other Tribes around the world) have accomplished. NP gives us so much to be proud of. Being a newbie, I’m remiss that I can’t possibly rehash the greatest hits that occurred before NP came into my life but here are a few of the incredible things I know the Tribe has done since I’ve been in town.  read more

Why We Wake Up

Today is amazing. Today is glorious. We are fortunate enough to have a guest blog from our very own Kelly Sheehan. As the days get shorter, and a little bit colder- we all search for the motivation to get up and get ourselves going. Read on to find out where Kelly finds her motivation, and read all the way to the bottom to see all of our ANNOUNCEMENTS. read more

My Acceptance Speech

I will most likely never win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar or a Tony (I believe all 4 is called an EGOT, thanks 30Rock) but I want to use this platform to give my acceptance speech, because being a co-co-leader of November Project feels like I won all of those, plus the lottery.

Thank you to the DC Tribe for your acceptance, your love and your friendship. Y’all have made DC home for me, and the ability to do that is so fucking rad. From day one, NP has always felt like somewhere I was meant to be. Thank you. read more
