Today is amazing. Today is glorious. We are fortunate enough to have a guest blog from our very own Kelly Sheehan. As the days get shorter, and a little bit colder- we all search for the motivation to get up and get ourselves going. Read on to find out where Kelly finds her motivation, and read all the way to the bottom to see all of our ANNOUNCEMENTS.

A little over a year ago, someone asked what got me out of bed in the morning. Despite being such a straightforward question, I was stumped. What did get me out of bed in the morning? What excited me, gave me purpose, and made me happy?
I didn’t have an answer.
At that time, it seemed like I had everything going for me. I had recently graduated from a great university and was moving to my dream city for grad school. But on the inside, I was struggling with a state of depression, a relapsed eating disorder, and a relationship that compromised my safety.
Then the answer hit me.
“Running,” I said. “What gets me out of bed is running.”
Literally and figuratively, this was the best answer I could have given. I loved every aspect of the sport. The improvements with each workout. The competition on the race course. The way each runner works individually for a collective goal. To finish the race. To work harder. To get up and run.
Soon after that conversation, I got injured. I couldn’t run my first full marathon, I kissed my Boston qualifier goodbye, and I kissed my sanity goodbye. Again, I found myself searching for a reason to get out of bed in the morning.
Then one pitch-black winter morning, I went to this thing called November Project. I ran. I was competitive. I made a friend. More importantly, I felt a sense of community where everyone was working individually for a collective goal. To start the day with a smile. To improve within themselves. To get out of bed and run.

November Project gives me so much more than a place to exercise. It gives me a group of like-minded people who work to improve themselves every day. It gives me a reason to be happy when sometimes all I can see are reasons to be sad. But most importantly, it gets me out of bed in the morning.
And that is fucking beautiful.
Feeling JACKED UP from Kelly’s inspiring words?! Read on to see EVEN MORE GREAT SHIT.
WE’RE MAKIN’ A MOVIE!!!In case you live under a rock, November Project is being turned into a feature-length film. Brought to you by our pals Dooster and powered by The North Face, the movie tells 8 different November Project stories and features our very own Ron Buch. SPECIAL TAGGING SESSION. Sunday 10/23. Meridian Hill Park (the bottom not the top where we meet for workouts), 4:00-5:30PM. You know the drill, one item per customer.
HOORAH. The Marine Corps Marathon is coming up Sunday, October 30. No surprise, lots of #NP_DC and Tribe members from around the globe are coming into town to crush this race. We’ll have a cheer station set up at Mile 18 (FYI- this is going to be LIT. There was a mini horse last year!) More info here. AFTER the race the party continues at The North Face store in Georgetown, 6PM-9PM. We’ll be setting up an Eventbrite page for folks to RSVP, stay tuned. TNF spearheads a garment recycling initiative, Clothes the Loop, and any time throughout race weekend, people can drop off their used apparel and footwear (any brand, any condition) at The North Face and receive a $10 coupon towards their next TNF purchase of $100 or more. PRETTY SWEET, RIGHT????
#RecruitEveryone this means FLOTUS. Okay ya’ll we are not playing games any more. Boston has thrown down the gauntlet and we came to play. THEY are trying to recruit David Ortiz (AKA Big Papi) to a workout. WE are GOING to get Michelle Obama (AKA First Lady) at a workout. The stakes are high; let’s just say C.Payne could find himself flaunting a signature Michelle State Dinner dress at a workout when we win. Tweet, Instagram, Facebook, write a letter, write a BLOG POST- do everything, TELL EVERYONE. #FLOTUSbeforePAPI.

Buff Stuff. You know you want one. $5 in person or on Venmo to Maria (@Maria-Randazzo-1) BEFORE October 30th. They make a great holiday gift, just sayin’.
SOCKTOBER. The season of giving is nearly upon us, friends. What better warm-up than to donate a pair of new socks to the less fortunate. Contact Tribe member Kelly Harley for more details.
