My Acceptance Speech

I will most likely never win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar or a Tony (I believe all 4 is called an EGOT, thanks 30Rock) but I want to use this platform to give my acceptance speech, because being a co-co-leader of November Project feels like I won all of those, plus the lottery.

Thank you to the DC Tribe for your acceptance, your love and your friendship. Y’all have made DC home for me, and the ability to do that is so fucking rad. From day one, NP has always felt like somewhere I was meant to be. Thank you.

To Jake- thank you for being stable AF, like literally rock solid, as a workout partner and as a human being, and going through this process with me. Thank you for being a superb journalist and asking the questions throughout this process that I never was smart enough to think of.

Steve. The wily veteran. The OG. Thank you for giving me your precious time to pester you with every possibility/scenario/useless remark that entered my brain. And thank you for trusting that I had the ability to lead this group.

Last but certainly not least, Kaelan. Thank you for being an absolute baller. Thank you for sharing your self-confidence with me and the Tribe. Thank you for giving me new #eyebrowgoals (get it trending guys). Thank you for creating a space for women to be strong, and badass, and powerful (bow down, bitches). If it weren’t for you asking me 20 questions that Monday at Meridian, I would not be on this journey, thanks dude.

Seven months ago I was a goober looking for a way out of paying for a gym membership. I was the stuffed up person running with their ear buds in we always talk about. I didn’t want to be hugged or to have my ear tickled. But after the first Wednesday at Lincoln, all I wanted to do was show up, and hustle and laugh with you guys. This community is so incredibly special. Y’all have turned a jaded Long Island girl into a true believer. Thank you NP for making DC, for making Meridian, for making Lincoln, and yes, for making godforsaken Tenleytown feel like home.

Okay, enough thank yous, let’s go do this thing.

SPREAD GOOD VIBES.
