KBC ditches DC– in the nicest way possible (DCA)

THANK. YOU.

Dear November Project DC-

A little over two years ago on a cold December morning at 5:30am, I showed up to my first November Project workout at Lincoln with my chocolate sprinkle, Macon. Approximately 5 seconds into the bounce she turned to me and said- “We’ve found our people”.

#NP_DC makes me want to jump for JOY

And it was true. You have been there for me every week, three times a week, for the past two+ years. I could never have imagined finding a community as loving, fun, and inspiring of fitness as you are. The workouts challenged me, made me a better runner, and more importantly- a better person. I find myself cheering people on in “regular pay for it” gyms now, and am always always giving hips in hugs. Even when work obligations took me away from you I knew I’d be welcomed back with open arms each time I showed up, no judgement or shame.

While I may not have been the most social tribe member, I want each of you to know that you touched me and brightened my spirit continuously. There were many workouts where I was feeling down in the dumps, and a hug after the bounce changed my outlook on the day and made me high five throughout the workout that much harder. You never know when you may do that for someone.

We are going to miss this smile SO MUCH

This Saturday, I’m moving out of the District and I will miss you dearly. I promise to come back to visit, watch a sunrise with you, and will carry you in my heart. I leave you with a line from my favorite movie, Harold and Maude, that goes like this:

Harold: This is real nice. Makes me want to do somersaults.

Maude: Well, why don’t you?

Harold: I’d feel stupid.

Maude: Harold, everyone has the right to make an ass out of themselves.

You just can’t let the world judge you too much

DC Tribe, you are Maude. (which is the highest honor one can possibly be). You encourage everyone to do those somersaults and shake off the judgement we feel oh too often in our everyday lives.

Thank you to the leaders old and new for leading us, reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously, and teaching me my city IS my playground. And thank you to all the tribe members who make this community the amazing body that it is.

Bringing those positive vibes down to North Carolina like…

Love,

KBC

Ps: Pledge tribe Bull City? Vamos a ver…
