If you ever sit on your toilet, pondering the important things in life – like what is the next thing you should tag – here’s an informative list:
Thank you to my toes. Thank you to my toenails that are sometimes black, to the few hairs that sometimes sit on my first toe-knuckle, to the way I can wiggle them and tickle them awake if my foot falls asleep.
Thank you to the arches of my feet. Thank you to the way they and my toes work together to push me and propel me forward. Thank you to the way I can put the bottoms of my feet together and make something that looks like the Pope’s hat. Thank you to the strength that sits within these two little arcs.
I didn’t know more than three people at my first November Project workout.

And that’s likely the case with most, if not all, of us. The beauty of the movement is the way that it turns a group of strangers into a community.

It’s not guaranteed that people from November Project will be your best friends. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll find your soulmate there. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll find a second family for yourself at a workout. It’s not guaranteed that your weekends will be spent with people from Wednesday and Friday mornings.
To the Milwaukeeans: a self-guided tour of past, present, and future favorite workout locations.
To the non-Milwaukeeans: a virtual tour of the city that you should at this moment be placing at the top of your bucket list.
First stop: The Calling. 941-, 999 E Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53202. Home base. This is where we meet at 6:26 am, every Wednesday. Wake up to the statue to mimics the sun’s rays, right next to the lake. Newly added attributes include: Shoreline Repast, Wisconsin Ave’s new sculptures and painted electrical boxes, and a removed staircase on the south end of the park. But don’t worry; complete with stairs, ledges, and creepy statues of children, the workout location is so perfect that we come back to it every single week.
If we’re alive, we’ve got a mom somewhere. She dealt with skipping beer and wine, our painful kicks to her loins, and a few nauseous bouts, likely at times that were unexpected and exactly when she didn’t want it, for nine whole months. Our mothers carried us around, with a massive bump on her front like a reverse backpack, went about her life normally, and made choices every hour with us in mind. After nine-ish grueling months, she showed up to a hospital room, showed up the male population with her strength, and through her, we showed up for the very first time.
Wisconsin Notes:
There are no Wisconsin Notes.
Today’s entry: Boy Band Edition (or anything that usually excites the young folks. Youths.)
Up first, Red (i.e. John DeBoer), Virginia Beach, VA. Red actually looks nothing like Ed Sheeran besides, you know, the redness, but according to the theme of similar-looking people that attract crowds of screaming girls, this is pretty accurate.
GIVE THE PEOPLE. WHAT THEY WANT.
The people asked. We answered. Here is your second part of the five-part series highlighting co-leaders from around the world and establishing celebrity look-alikes. Today’s session begins with….
Barry Clark. Co-leader of Virginia Beach. DJ by day and by night (if you were at 5ummit, Barry was DJ Barry). Hence the actually very striking comparison of DJ Barry to Calvin Harris. Look at that resemblance.
This begins a five-part series comparing your world-wide co-leaders to celebrities using pictures from the world wide web. November Project reaches all the way around this big ol’ green and blue ball floating around the Sun, and it’s about time you got to know the people who lead people, just like you, in exotic places like Chicago.
Do you ever watch a movie that has no hidden meanings or life advice and think, wow, I wish that I had spent my time on something more impactful? Don’t you fret anymore – we are diving deep into some stupid movies that you thought had no thought-provoking content and relating it to PR day.
Movie #1: Napoleon Dynamite
This is a reflection on Summit written by Your Dad, Roger Huffman:
November Project. What is it? What does it mean? This is a question I have been called upon to answer many times. My answer is always a little bit different. Those who have been to a workout can tell you that it is more than just a workout, even if they cannot put a finger on the reasons why. You just walk away feeling good and sometimes it is downright inexplicable. This is something Christine has dug into in these blogs week in and week out. There are many ways to try to explain this movement. It is hard to capture exactly what November Project is because I am not sure anyone truly knows. It is bigger than all of us, and it is so damn good!
