It’s go time in ATL! Whether you are running or cheering, we got two days of going all out with November Project members from all over North America (Shout out to our Canadian friends visiting too). This weekend will have everything: World class athletes, TWO cheer stations, a Burpee Competition, Brooks giveaways, hugs, high-fives, The REAL BOJAN MANDARIC!
Below is all the important stuff (liking winning Free Brooks shoes) you need to know for the weekend. For more info on the week see our previous post here.
Saturday- US Olympic Marathon Trials
10AM- 11AM: Fuel up at the Brooks Hyperion House
Grab some breakfast at the Brooks Hyperion House. While you are there, make a sign, and grab some cheering swag to rep at the Cheer Station.
11AM-12PM: Get to the November Project Cheer Station
Make your way to our Official US Olympic Marathon Cheer Zone (Address 345 Edgwood Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30312).
Getting There: Address 345 Edgewood Ave SE.
Its about a mile away from the Start/Finish line and only 3 blocks from the final stretch. We’ll be meeting on the South side of Edgewood Avenue- this is important because you won’t be able to cross the course.
The course and surrounding roads will close at 10:30 a.m. Finish line roads will close even earlier. Given the traffic and parking limitations, it is STRONGLY encouraged that spectators use MARTA. The closest MARTA Rail station is King Memorial on the GREEN/BLUE lines. Easy .3 mile walk up Hilliard St.
Sign in to enter our Brooks Raffle!
We are raffling off a pair of Brooks Shoes (1 pair Saturday, 1 pair Sunday to anyone at our cheer station). To enter find a November Project member with a sign in sheet (there will be physical and digital copies going around). You may also send us a Selfie to one of our social media accounts (Insta: @novemberprojectatl; FB: November Project Atlanta) and follow up with your name and email.
12PM- 3PM: The RACE
We’ll pump the jamz. Pump them up. While our feet are stompin’ and the crowd is jumpin’. See important stuff below.
1PM-ish BURPEE Challenge with The Run Experience
Facts. Burpees make stronger Runners. November Project loves Burpees. Our friends at The Run Experience love Burpees. What better time to entertain ourselves with a Burpee Challenge while we wait for the runners to pass us again.
The fastest male and female to do 42 full Burpees (that’s with a push-up) will be awarded their choice of Brooks Shoes! Why 42? Because there’s 42km in a marathon- and 42 is greater than 26.2 – that’s science. The Run Experience will be giving away other great prizes like membership to their site. Thanks Run XP!
- Remember you are representing November Project. Please make sure all signs and attire are positive, appropriate and relate to the athletes in the trials.
- Stay clear of the course. Once race starts do not cross course. Groups could lose stipend eligibility if they impede the event by being in the road or crossing the course during the event.
- Do not hang signs or place items on fencing or in course – expecting high winds Stay clear of course.
- No Tents along the course for runner safety.
- Bells and other noisemakers are permitted, but no air horns or whistles please.
- Do not hand food or beverages to athletes.
