April Showers Bring… (SD and DC)

…the May battle of the #fittercity.

April showers bring fierce (but charitable) May inter-tribal competitions.

That’s how the saying goes, right?

You heard it here first: May is bringing a brand new, one of a kind, cross country, inter-tribal competition.

Get your game faces ready:

What: A Charity Miles competition. San Diego versus Washington DC. Whichever tribe racks up the most miles run/walked/biked during the month of May wins.

Where: Wherever your legs or bicycle can take you!

When: May 1-31st, 2015.

Why: Here at November Project we are all about 2 main things: #freefitness and #community. In both the SD and DC communities, we’ve been lucky enough to develop close relationships with Team RWB, who’s goal is to enrich the lives of American vets by connecting them with their community through physical and social activities. These men and women have become huge parts of our larger NP family. Charity Miles is a brilliant app that allows you to choose a charity and then it donates money to that charity for every mile run, walked, or biked. Team RWB is one of the partner charities on Charity Miles, which means YES! we can support them. What could be better than getting moving and donating to charity at the same time? Well, here at NP we also believe that a little friendly competition goes a long way. Whichever tribe logs the most miles wins this competition (and bragging rights). Not enough competition for you? The top performing and over-achieving male and female tribe members in each city may also win some sweet swag and the title of Fittest Man or Woman in all of the NP land.

How: This is the best part, it’s SIMPLE.

1. Download the Charity Miles app. Don’t worry, it’s free.

2. Create a profile and log in.

3. Join your respective NP tribe’s Team by searching for NovemberProjectSD or NovemberProjectDC.

4. Each time you run, walk, bike, or November Project simply log into the app, select Team RWB from the available charities before starting, and begin your activity.

The rest is done for you. See, SIMPLE.

So what’s the catch? The catch is that to win, you can’t do this on your own. You WILL need to run, walk, or bike outside of November Project hours. You WILL need to recruit new tribe members to join us and join the challenge. And most importantly, you WILL need to remember to turn on your app before exercising. You also WILL need to do a little trash talking. Feel free to use the hashtag #fittercity on all social media accounts to get into the psyche of your opponents.

May the fastest, strongest, sweatiest tribe win.
