IT’S PR DAY! And we can tell, just by the numbers. There’s something about PR day that people dread.
Tell me this – do you work harder on PR days than any other given Monday or Wednesday? You shouldn’t. Do you think that you shouldn’t show up if you don’t think you’ll be able to PR? You shouldn’t. Are you afraid that not hitting a PR means you haven’t made any progress in the past month? You shouldn’t.
And if you hear any of those thoughts running around in your head, take a look in the mirror, and try what we practiced this morning, and say, “Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you.” Because what’s keeping you in bed and what’s keeping you from just showing up on PR day is you. Just think about what you’re missing…
How many peoples’ days do you get to make with your hugs?
How many laughs do you get from watching us make fools of ourselves up on that fountain? (Wait, none? Dammit.)
How often do you get to cheer on Navy servicemen and women on their race day?
How often do you get to better your health and your community, scream fuck yeah, and get a really good workout in with 100+ other people before sunrise?
So get out of your own goddamn head, get your ass in your car, on the bike, get your feet on the pavement, and just show up. Because there’s more to PR day than the number of hills you run. There’s more to PR day than grinding through 30 minutes of work.
We’ll leave you with a letter that our very own Sam Lee wrote on behalf of November Project to Save Starlight, the organization who’s leading the charge to revitalize the Starlight Bowl. This is more than just a workout group, my friends.
And I promise you, the more you just show up, the more people you meet and hug, the easier it’ll be to look at your groggy self in the mirror every morning and say to yourself, “Today, anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you.”
