A Year in the Life

PPG (Penelope Pinky Graham) has been alive for a little over one year.

She’s seen a lot of changes within the tribe. She’s experienced the addition of a 5:29 workout. She’s been inside Miller Park for a November Project workout. She’s seen a winter, a summer, a spring, and a fall. She’s been through Summit in Boston, Summit 5.Moo in Wisconsin, and a summer race season.

And no matter how long we’ve been alive or how long we’ve been going to workouts, we’ve seen changes too in the city and in ourselves.

We’ve transitioned from struggling through a few pushups to crushing three Dirtinas in a row.

We’ve added races to our calendars we never imagined we could finish.

We’ve experienced a change in the amount of pain we feel during PR day, and realize how, three laps in, we do still feel okay!

We’ve made new friends, met at bars, shared breakfasts and dinners, and hugged it out.

We’ve grown in our appreciation for the beauty of our city, seeing it at the most magical time (sunrise).

If you were to ask me what makes me proud of myself, it’s taking a step back and looking at how far I’ve come – physically, mentally, and socially. So take this opportunity to look back and reflect on growth you’ve experienced in the past week, month, year, or more. How have your friendships changed? How have your goals been met? How has your opinion of yourself changed? And if it hasn’t changed in all positive ways, what can you do to adjust that? What can you do to make other people feel more welcomed, important, and loved?

How can you build yourself, one experience as a time? How can you build your strength, one workout at a time?

How can we build our city together, one interaction as a time?
