Let’s get something straight, Monday #DestinationDecks are just fucking awesome.
Stop with the bullshit about them being too far away, hard to find, unpredictable, too early, not hard enough.
Stop.
Those are excuses you tell yourself because you’re probably scared to push yourself, worried about getting lost, uncertain about the unexpected, and generally like to be in charge of every little detail of your life. Or you’re just tired and need to get more sleep–but pretty much everyone needs to get more sleep and here’s the key to figuring that out: go to bed earlier. And naps.
Excuses may get you a little more sleep in the morning, but they do not get you sunrises, goofy children’s song bounces, hugs from friends and strangers, and cruise ship dock racing sprints on this beautiful September morning. Excuses don’t get you free-er than free fitness and the best way to start your week. Excuses don’t make you faster, stronger, happier, or better looking. Excuses do NOT get you November Project.
November Project Boston was on mission Black Falcon this morning, which started with a bounce consisting of a tweaked version of the old Rafi diddy “Down By the Bay.” (Good luck getting that one out of your head) (You’re welcome Bojan). It followed up with a “warm up” of 25 burpees and then the racing circuit.
6 runners lined up at the start line of the first race (about 70 yards). At the finish line, the top 4 finishers advanced ahead about 10 yards to the start line of the second race (about 55 yards). At that finish line, the top 2 finishers advanced another 10 yards to the start line of the final race (about 40 yards). At the final finish line the fastest runner was declared a Black Falcon. That runner jogged back to the original start line and began racing again.
Everyone who finished in the bottom 2, 2, or 1 of the three races, respectively, returned to the starting area and did 1 exercise before going back to the starting line to race again. 50 sit ups on the first time back, 30 pushups on the next time back, and 50 toe-taps on the wooden curb (or as I like to call them “Capozzi running on a log”) on the third time back, then repeat through those three for all other returns to the starting area.
Many badass athletes and Black Falcons showed UP today. The tribe is filled with fast awesome people.
We know that the Allston crew ran 7 miles to get to the deck today. We know that a bunch of people threw down at races with official standing as well as at unofficial beer miles this weekend. And we know that when it comes time for Monday and you want fierce fitness that’s really fun and totally free, today lived up to everything we could hope for.
You’re welcome for a hard workout that makes you dry-heave or puke or almost pass out. You’re welcome for not just making it goofy, but pushing you out of your comfort zone. And you’re welcome for the best excuse to post some killer sunrise pics on social media and ride high on likes and comments from friends FOMO’ing their faces off. Good for them, maybe next Monday they’ll be running/riding/moving next to you as we keep taking over the world. Good for you because this is your tribe and mission Black Falcon was a success. Good for this world because November Project is kicking butt and taking names.
Keep changing the world my friends.
Boom.
