A Grey Cup Monday (YEG)

Reindeer Friday and Grey Cup Monday…pretty normal stuff for November Project Canada!

The CFL Grey Cup was this morning’s special guest…its not grey though…its silver…I guess that’s a shiny version of grey….maybe that should be what it is called…The Shiny-version-of-grey Cup. Its probably actually named after some famous person with the last name Grey…just checked Wikipedia and yes, it was commissioned by Earl Grey, Canada’s Governor General in in 1909. Hmmmm…I wonder if my favourite Earl Grey tea is his namesake as well? Interestingly enough the cup was originally to be given to the Canadian senior amateur hockey championships but after another trophy was given in that honour, the Grey Cup was donated to the Canadian Football league and after the 103rd Grey Cup game was played our Edmonton Eskimos walked away with the mighty cup hoisted above their heads! (Of note: only players and members of the championship team can hoist the cup above their head)

Lucky for us Trent is a member of the Grey Cup Champion Edmonton Eskimos crew, keeping all their digital media coordinated, and he chose to share his “cup time” with the tribe. Thanks Trenty!!

Hope you all had loads of fun pulling slips of great surprise from the cup, especially those of you who had the privilege of channeling your inner-Nanook and bear crawling around the skating rink.

In true Edmonton-style we wrapped up today’s workout with a celly picture posed on the skating rink with a pyramid in the background and the grey Cup front and center…yup, pretty normal Monday morning!

See you all Wednesday 6AM – Royal Glenora Stairs- last Wednesday of the month…last Wednesday of the year…that can only mean one things…its 28:19 RACEDAY!

Until next time…SMILE! J
