What to expect (Ottawa)

As we hear about provinces and countries beginning to open back up and move into new phases maybe you have asked when are we going to resume in person workouts? Hold the high speed internet connection cause Zoom has been bringing us together for the past four months now and we’re quite not ready to drop that connection just yet. However, it is certainly on our minds too and we are really excited to see all of you in person.

Do we have a specific date as to when we’ll return back to in person workouts? No, not yet.

Will we give you a heads up as to when we’re returning? Yes, at least a week’s notice.

Will we continue to host workouts via Zoom if you do not feel comfortable to come to in-person workouts? Yes, ABSOLUTELY.  We will bring you with us to the place we gather.

Our objective here is not to host one outdoor workout three weeks from now and then have it all shut back down again.  To be completely transparent, we are okay with waiting a little bit longer, to conservatively and cautiously, gather all together. What we can and will continue to reassure you about is consistency. We will begin at 6:29am, and end at 7:00am. We will have a workout that will be a challenge by choice, where you push yourself as hard as you want to go, with others surrounding you (at a distance), cheering you on wherever you are at. We will have connection and community. This connection will look different, because our gatherings have historically been close together physically, with hugs and high fives, but we are going to work together to still make the connections happen, may make mistakes along the way, but it’s really important to us that we keep our community safe.

Below you will find the guidelines and new standards for when our in person workouts resume. Please have a read and if there was a Wisconsin Notes section of this blog, at the top of that list would be: sign the waiver.

When We’re All Together Again as told by Bojan Mandaric

Hi November Project, it’s been a while since we’ve all been together. As the world is figuring out how to come back from the pandemic and more places are going back to in-person workouts we’d like to share some things that every NP member will have to follow in order to maintain health and safety of our communities. There will be things that are very specific to your location and your co-leaders will be sharing those when the time comes, but these are directions that will apply to all November Project cities:

Personal Contact

I’m sure that many of you are longing for the days where you’ll be able to embrace your friends with a tight hug, high-five, or a fist bump. Unfortunately, there are still many uncertainties that are surrounding COVID-19 so until further notice, please make sure to refrain from engaging in physical contact with your fellow members before, during, and after the workout. Consequently, all workouts will be designed to follow this directive (no partner exercises, close encounters, etc.)

The Bounce

This is another NP staple that will have to take a back seat for a foreseeable future as having people in a tight space chanting and engaging in call-and-response is something that we don’t deem safe under the circumstances. We know that for some of you, the bounce is a great way to get into the mindset of the workout and we’re encouraging Co-leaders to come up with different creative ways to engage in introductions that will get you fired up to get going.

Wearing Masks

For those choosing to wear masks or a face covering while working out, we encourage you to participate at the level that is comfortable for you but please be aware that the mask can increase the workload and cause unnecessary strain on your body. If you are feeling light-headed, dizzy, or short of breath, please find a safe place to take a seated rest, slow your breathing, and hydrate. As always, locate a Co-leader and call your local emergency number if you are in need of medical attention. You do not need to wear your mask during the workout, but we ask that you have it for before and after.

Before starting the workout, all members (new and old) will have to sign an online waiver that can be found below or in the website top navigation as well as the footer, in the link named “Waiver”. Participation in November Project workout will not be allowed without a signed waiver. We are able to check to see who did and did not sign this, PLEASE do it.

You can find a copy of the waiver

Have Fun!

We understand that some of these things may not feel like the days of “old” November Project, but the beauty of this community is its willingness to adapt to the circumstances and make the best out of the situation in service of the greater good. We appreciate your help in making the re-opening of NP as seamless as possible.

If you have traveled , please respectfully quarantine yourself for 2 weeks.

If you or ANYONE in your home is ill or experiencing ANY symptoms, please stay home.

Thank you for sharing your morning, coffee chats, can-can kicks and virtual high fives with us.

Here’s to bringing soles together,

Lauren and Liz
