Amazing job to everyone today on PR day and congrats to newbie Caroline for killing those stairs and winning race day. Today at the new location, you now have a new baseline to start keeping track of your progress!
This blog is to help you reflect, think and answer some questions for yourself. What did it take you to wake up this morning? What motivated you to work a little harder than what was comfortable? Are you training for something? Do you have a goal to workout three times a week and this ensures you get ⅓ of those done? Did you #verbal to your friend? Did you commit to yourself you’d come this week? Are you working on meeting new people? Are you trying to get faster? Stronger? Fitter? Do you like to see yourself in those sweet photos looking badass bundled up? Just you wait for those mornings where getting up on a cold winter morning is always worth it! We’ll see who is badass enough to keep that up! These are some of the things that might get you up in the morning and ensure you #justshowup.
Next question- what is it that keeps you going during the workout? If someone says to you that “It’s ONLY a 31 minute workout?”, are you able to confidently respond by saying that “yes, it’s 31 minutes, but I couldn’t possibly do anymore than that.” That you could not do 1 more push up by the end? Or that one more burpee would make you drop and not be able to get back up? If you’re doing it right, that should certainly be the case. Whether you did 10 push ups and burpees, or 110 in the workout, that one last one should feel like the same type of fatigue and ache, no matter who you are and what kind of athlete you are. This is YOUR workout and it is meant to be tough, but if you are thinking you could do another 31 minutes, maybe you’re not quite getting as much out of your time as you think. Remember, you’re the one who gave up some valuable shut eye to get yourself to the workout, try to make sure those 31 minutes count.
If getting up for yourself isn’t enough motivation, what else keeps you moving even when you don’t want to? What helps you push that little bit more- is it the person in front of you who leads by example by working their tail off for 31 minutes? Is it the person who you try to keep up with, who is maybe just a little faster? Is it that person who tells you not to let them pass you, or by letting you know they know you can move faster? Is it someone telling you you’re doing awesome? Is it being someone’s partner and trying to keep up? Is it someone calling out your name? Is it someone giving you a suggestion about a different way to modify or scale a movement to keep you moving the whole time? Is it that person beside you who you know it’s the first time and that pumps you up that they went out of their comfort zone to show up? Share with us about what keeps you motivated in your workout. Share with one another, as you may be doing something you don’t know is helping someone else. And if you don’t think you are doing anything to motivate others, what could you be doing differently to try to make that happen? This workout is for you, and as part of this community, it’s about the person standing beside you too.
Thank you for sharing your morning, your workout and your time with us. We’re glad you came. What can you do to help someone else feel that they are glad they came too?
