What are you proud of? (YEG)

Life moves fast. It moves so fast and there is so much happening that you need to live in the now. If you’re not present in those moments, those important moments will fly right past you without you even noticing. We all know how FOMO (fear of missing out) affects us all, but you can still get FOMO if your head wasn’t in the game. The crazy thing, is that with November Project, we share some pretty wild moments fairly frequently. So frequently, that we it becomes easy to forget that crazy thing that happened last month, or last week, or even yesterday. Today we celebrated a 4th birthday, and on Wednesday we celebrated an 89th birthday. And the week before at the stairs, we had one of the most heart warming moments we’ve ever had at a workout.

Anyway, for the first few years of NP, I recognized how important it was to be present in everything. You’ll find more enjoyment if you are mentally present. This goes for anything. At the end of 2015, I was looking back at all of the cool things I’ve been able to do and be involved in with or without NP, and I realized that I’ve had more amazing experiences in a single year than most people have in their entire lives.

So, I created a list for myself that I keep track of on my handheld computer phone. I called it “Shit I’m proud of in 2016” and I just wrote a quick note of things that made me smile. The list grows and I can look back on it as time goes on.
Here’s a few things on my 2016 list:

  • Tribes of NP at iHuman
  • The NP Buff (black version) being on almost every episode of The Amazing Race that season
  • Nonnie breaking into a bar during a workout
  • The GOAT workout
  • The kids team at Summit
  • Recruiting a city councillor to a workout
  • I’m quoted in a book that’s sold in real book stores
  • Reuniting with my old mariachi band
  • Making Jen run up and down the hill holding a cake.

… and the list continues..

Creating this list, for me, was a way to look back and reflect on the moments which made me smile. Whether you choose to create your own list moving forward or not, don’t forget these amazing moments that you experience at NP or in your every day life.

MONDAY: We are meeting at Gallagher Park, with toboggan in hand.

Find the Good,

Nadim
