The Schedule (NPSF)

What a week we have in store. Over the next 7 days, people from across the 44 Tribes will start to descend on our splendid city for Summit V point III. And we’re damn sure we’re going to show them why San Francisco is probably the greatest trail running/November Projecting city in all of the land.

The Prelude:

It’ll kick off on Monday and Wednesday mornings of course. Some of those Traverballers with seemingly limitless time off (looking at you, Jenna D) will start rocking up to the Fort Mason and Alta Plaza workouts. Leading us into Wednesday evening. As we all know, Josh “Ripped By” Zip loves sportsball. All of the sports with balls. Even the sports where the balls are shaped like Its-Its. Out of Handstand’s office in the Lower Haight (i.e. Casa el Gil), we’re going to host a pre-ECSCA hype session where we’ll stream everyone’s favourite hype movie, Bambi… oh wait… sorry… Mighty Ducks. Let us know if you’re coming here. As you can see, Zip’s a little hyped:

“Could anything possibly prepare you better for your epic run at ECSCA on the weekend? Probably. Maybe even running. But this will be the opposite of running. We’ll be snacking, drinking, and quacking our little hearts out. Coach Bombay will get us all fired up to go out on the ice (trails) and skate until we can’t skate no more (run for a long time).” – Josh Zip

THURSDAY – The Show:

The ECS trail party kicks off at Sports Basement Presidio on Thursday night with the Trails in Motion Film Festival. Eight trail running movies from around the globe, along with a guest panel of athletes from The North Face. Tickets available here for $10, and on the door for $12.

FRIDAY – The Gathering:

On Friday morning, we’ll gather for the self proclaimed greatest November Project workout of the year, the pre-race Friday Hills. Every year, we try to get to a more epic location. 2014: Twin Peaks. 2015: The Sand Ladder. 2016: Twin Peaks (again! It’s that good!). But for 2017, we wanted to go a little further afield. Given the Golden Gate Bridge is going to have such prominence with being the final 3 miles of this year’s race, we’re going to give you a sneak preview of the big bridge from the Battery Spencer. There will be trails and views. Hugs and high fives. Free gear drops from The North Face! Meet at the Battery (Das Pin) for 6:15AM. There’s limited parking spots at the vista point but more down at either of side of 101 on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Watch our Facebook page for a Google Doc about carpooling.

 SATURDAY – The Big Dance:

On Saturday, we race our little hearts off. From marathon relays to 50 milers, the Tribe will taking to the trails and taking part in the biggest trail racing party this side of Chamonix. On the course, rep the #GrassrootsGear. Throw out some high fives and hollers. Recruit your fellow racers as you powerhike up Cardiac. Have a blast out there!

SATURDAY – After the party is the AFTER PARTY:

Come to Folsom Street Foundry on Saturday evening for a great night of dancing, libations and celebration! Whether you raced, cheered, or slept in until 6 PM, EVERYONE is invited to join the fun so grab your friends and head to the Foundry! Kicks off from 7PM! We will also have the presentation of the Ultra Tribe of the Year award. DRUMROLL!!! Tune in next week for the preview for the Ultra Tribe of the Year Award.

The Comedown:

Sunday morning, we’ll see more people take on the Presidio trails for the half marathon, 10K and 5K. We’ll have others floating around the city searching for their legs and a brunch spot to alleviate that “raced and danced too much” hunger from the previous few days festivities. Many brave souls will join us at Fort Mason Mondays to reminisce, shake the legs out and say our goodbyes until the next time the NP world comes to town!

OHHHH. And we also had a spectacular morning today! Cheers Mount David, son!
