We Are Grateful. Always. (SF)

This morning was a shocker. Chris Sheesley, in true form, mentioned he’d like to make an announcement at the end of the workout. Normally we’re pretty strict about these things because they can spiral out of control, but Chris confirmed it was about a philanthropic project he’d already talked to us about (more to come on it soon). Naturally we had no problem giving Chris, a stalwart figure of the tribe, the stage to share about this altruistic opportunity.

Only that’s not what he talked about. Instead, he presented us with a holiday gift from all of the tribe. In the whirlwind of receiving these gifts, we were totally shocked to say the least. I didn’t know what to say. Now that I’ve had a couple of hours to let it all sink in, the word that most comes to mind is grateful.

Grateful for you all. For the love and warmth that permeates our tribe. Grateful for the early mornings when you fight off that warm blanket to come sweat with us. I’m personally grateful to get to do this with Paddy and Laura.

Being the people at the front does not mean that this is ours. The reason NP continues is because you all continue to show up, smile, and work your asses off. An old soccer coach used to preach consistency and say “you’re only as good as your last game.” The same applies to this tribe. It’s possible to look at the workouts and the fun we have and think that us leaders are creating this momentum. But the truth is that it’s all you guys. We, as a group, are only as good as the people who show up. The best NP workout is always the next one. And that has nothing to do with the three of us and everything to do with you. And your consistency.

It should come as no surprise that leading November Project San Francisco is a privilege and honor that Paddy, Laura, and I all take great pride in.We commit ourselves to NP not because we ever expect anything, but simply because we love it. It’s actually just damn good fun. This morning was a huge surprise. And we’re just grateful to be here with all of you.
