Dearest Friends. It’s been a bloody pleasure.
To the very wise man who once informed us that time flies when we’re having fun – you were not lying, mate. It’s been a crazy whirlwind of good times, folks, and i’m v sad my time in CO has come to an end. I’ve laughed a lot, learned a lot, ran a lot, traveled a lot, laughed even more, and sampled every brand of nut butter I could get my little hands on. FYI: TJ’s Almond Butter is a clear winner. If anyone knows how to ship it in bulk to the UK, you’ve made it on my gravestone. I’ve met such incredible people (I’m looking at all of you, NP5280), who’ve guided and supported me along the way and, most importantly, introduced me to cinnamon rolls. You guys are some of the most driven, passionate, motivated, adventurous and kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
It was daunting accepting a job in the US and moving across the world by myself a month later. I was, indeed, extremely nervous and scared I’d develop an American accent and they’d never let me back to the motherland. But I pulled up my socks and slipped on my best undies and reminded myself that these things that scare us are so bloody good for us. When we face our fears, folks, the magic happens. It just does. I am still Scottish AF and i’m 90% sure they’re letting me back in. (Fun fact: Scotland’s national animal is a unicorn. Yup, we’re nuts).
I can’t express enough how much I’ve learned and how much i’ve grown as a person from taking the plunge [gulp] and moving to another country by myself. Believe me, between my time living in Boston and Denver, A LOT has went tits up along the way and my experience in the US definitely hasn’t been silky smooth (Q: How many times can one lock one’s car keys in one’s car? A flippin’ SHIT TON). I’ve discovered that this adulting malarkey is damn hard, but i’ve also discovered that it’s really just shits & giggles (until someone actually shits), and if we roll with the punches that life throws at us, we can use them as valuable learning experiences [read: I will now always keep a spare car key].
To all of you WONDERFUL humans, who I’ve been so ridiculously lucky to call family for the last 19 months, THANK YOU. Thank you for everything. November Project has been a home away from home for me in Denver and right now I’m struggling to get my tiny little brain to process life without it. It’s been such a crazy, wild, insanely fun, sunny, and refreshing adventure and Colorado has treated me so well. If you ever find yourself in the land we call Scot, which I hope you do, I promise to be the best tour guide. Please visit! It honestly only rains roughly 364 days of the year and the sun does actually shine for at least one week mid-June.
Cheers folks, Scotland is calling!
Hugs,
Amy Bell
P.S. Someone please take care of Rachel Mead (a.k.a Ravioli). She’ll need a buddy for post-NP coffee on Wednesdays and you’ll have to organize her personal schedule for her. Remind her of important dates like her own birthday, when her sister’s in town etc., and ask her things like “have you booked that flight yet, Rach?”. Feed her a lot and water her well and you’ll be jammin’.

We’ll miss you Ms. Bell!
