If you were to begin writing a list of November Project unsung heroes I’m pretty sure you’d get a hand cramp before you even made it a quarter of the way through. I truly believe each morning you show up you put yourself in the position to be someone’s hero and you don’t even know it. It may be the eye contact made and the hello extended to a newbie that instantly makes them feel a part of the group. Maybe it’s the coaching that you give on how to best save your calves from the day-after Commonwealth aches. Perhaps it’s the big embrace that you give to someone who unbeknownst to you really, really needed a hug that morning. It could be the high 5 you extend that breaks someone’s negative self-talk as they struggle up the second half of Walterdale Hill. Heroes also come in the form of our amazing bakers who surprise the tribe randomly with mouth watering delicacies and tribe members who ensure that our runny noses are taken care of.
This morning I would like to recognize someone who went out of his way to make the morning better for each one of us. Did you notice that we had our own arborist working magic to clean up the low overhanging branches that threatened to whip us in the face each time we ran by? To be honest, I was less concerned about a potential eye injury and instead I was mostly worried that one of those green caterpillars would fall in my hair! Thank you Steve Baker for sharing your tree surgeon skills with the tribe!
If you ever find yourself thinking…wow, [insert name here, or if you don’t know their name, your description of them] just made my morning. Share it with them…I bet you’ll make their morning right back!
