There’s a chance I wrote the exact same blog last week, but these things can’t go unsaid. I appreciate the light crew more than they know. In what is my least favourite thing to take care of as an NP Leader, I begrudgingly charge the 10 bike lights graciously provided to the tribe by MEC back in 2013. Then, before NP, I unplug them, throw em in a bag with a tangled mess of velcro, and head to the stairs. When I get there, the light crew is waiting ready to strap em down. Those that have done it are on point. They know the drill and I no longer have to explain how to set it up properly. I usually only setup 3 of them while my hands freeze and I try and sort out the tangled velcro straps while it keeps getting stuck to my pants and jacket. Then, after the workout, while Jen, Andrew and I are playing rock, paper, scissors to see who gets to write the blog, the tear down crew heads up and has them ready for me when I make it to the top. These are all subtle contributions that you likely don’t see. But, we notice. We notice how running stairs is much better when you can see on your way down. We notice those who help. Without this lighting crew, safety would be fourth. Anyway, I just thought you should know that NP wouldn’t be nearly as great without those tribe members who help us in the background without people ever knowing.
