Trail Scale

My co-leader wasn’t here today. She didn’t break a verbal or anything. It’s just that today is her birthday and she is in a van with 13 other people heading out to Utah. This weekend is the Utah episode of The North Face Endurance Challenge Series. An awesome weekend of trail races put on by our friends at The North Face. Maggie’s idea of the perfect birthday weekend was to get a group of our friends together, drive 700+ miles to Utah, run the marathon relay race, and then get back into a van and drive back 700+ miles. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, it is pretty badass. Stuff like this doesn’t routinely happen outside of November Project. No one sits there and thinks, “you know what sounds like a good idea? Driving 12+ hours to go run 6 miles in Utah!” Yet, here we are. LA had a van drive out, San Diego too, and just last week Baltimore’s crew drove out to Wisconsin. Nick Rod, co-leader of NP Baltimore, actually ran so fast in Wisconsin that when they were in the van they got pulled over for speeding even though they were driving under the speed limit due to Nick’s carpool karaoke rendition of The Proclaimers I’m Gonna Be. What I’m taking my usual sweet-ass longwinded story-telling time to say is I love our special brand of crazy. Have a great time in Utah, Mags. Also, don’t worry, the kids are totally fine, and I promise that Tomasetti looked like this before the workout, but like hey if you want to drive a little bit faster on the way home that’d be cool too.

NEWS:

Wednesday – Already that time of the month again. It’s PR day! This PR doc will possibly earn you free Sweetgreen!

Buffs – October 14th is the deadline to order the newest edition of #NPBuffs. No idea what the design is, but it’ll be awesome! Fill this out!

November 18th – #NFECSCA aka North Face Endurance Challenge Series California. This is always an awesome time. This is part of the race series that Summit is always a part of. Consider this to be like a mini-NP Summit. Marathon relay is the most popular choice and you can race it with 3 other friends. Check it out, get a crew together, and sign up! Use code NPLAX for 15% off registration fee. Place to enter the code is a little weird, so if you can’t find it then reach out and we can explain it!

Random Fact –  Today is the Autumnal Equinox. On the equinox, night and day are nearly exactly the same length – 12 hours – all over the world. This is the reason it’s called an “equinox,” derived from Latin, meaning “equal night.” However, even if this is widely accepted, it isn’t entirely true. In reality, equinoxes don’t have exactly 12 hours of daylight.
