This morning, a lucky few NP San Franciscans got a sneaky teaser for some spectacular times ahead. As 750,000 souls lay asleep in their beds across that big ol’ red bridge (California Orange actually?), the Tribe went to play in the Marin Headlands. We had Ian with the long hair. It was his first day at NP so we had lots to learn about him. His favourite colour is green, and he prefers biscuits to cake. His own words, “I’m more of a savoury man”. We had Schaar and Yung Su, leading the charge bombing down the stairs. Emma McCune and her over-sized sweater tapering for tomorrow’s ECS Marathon the only way she knows, flying up and down the trails. We had Laura McGreen striding the trails and thankfully not dropping that awfully expensive looking camera. We had Tantek Celik lighting up the trails with an assortment of luminuous clothes. Fear not if you took a wrong turn. Just scan the Marin Headlands and Tantek will stand out like Paddy O’Leary in a weight room. We had the Frenchman, giggling his way down the hill as he flashed me his buttocks (OK I was the only one priviliged to see that. Last year, a lot more of you were lucky). And we had Nate Bliss, DJing the tunes, keeping an eye on the sunrise and being a beaming welcome at the top of the trail.

Right so that’s it for aimless rambling. But everybody, we missed all of you out there. Every single one. The Hollys. The Perrys. The Caitys. The Steves. The Erins. The John Flinns. The one. The only. The Connor Green. If you slept in this morning or felt Marin was too far, fear not. The Tribe want you to back on Monday morning. You may have missed a dazzling sunrise on a brand new trail at a beautiful vista point overlooking our spectacular city. But don’t you worry, the sun will rise again. At times, Karl will shroud us in. Other times, it’ll be an outrageous sunrise. We will continue to explore every corner of our city. We will continue to use San Francisco as our training ground and our playground. You missed on a great workout, but this morning was just a prelude. To the season of surnises ahead. And to an extra special Friday on November 17th. Last year, 300 NPers from across the world took to Twin Peaks for a workout for the ages. This year, we’re going to make our way north. We’ll be back to Marin as a Tribe, when we host the world to our backyard for the ECSCA in mid-November and the most epic NPSF Friday Hills workout of the year. And head back again to race our faces off the following day for the biggest trail lovefest of the year!
