I spend all of my work life in the mentorship and leadership space. I am regularly exposed to this concept:
The way I choose to conduct myself creates an atmosphere inside others. They make this atmosphere mean something about themselves.
In simple language, my conduct has an impact on others.
I didn’t make this up. If you want to learn more about this, I’d check out Roy Group if I were you. I’m even linking an article that highlights this concept.
I think about this often as I show up each MWF for you and for myself.
It’s always on full display in our NPCan community. I see it when you take photos of each other… just to capture joy. Or when someone shows up with cookies. Or music. Or when someone sticks with you just to know your story or catch up. Or when dozens of people wake up an extra half an hour early just to cheer on others. Or when someone shows up wearing a costume just to make others smile and laugh…. cuz, why not? Or when a newbie is welcomed with a giant “hi” just for giving NP a try.
There’s literally a million examples of how our individual and collective conduct creates an atmosphere inside of others. Whether you do that on purpose or not, something special happens every MWF because of you.
Can I give you some homework?
Think about – with purpose – how you choose to show up for those in your life (not just at NP but in all parts of life)? What kind of atmosphere are you creating in others just by being your wonderful self? Where is there the possibility for more of the atmosphere that you WANT to create within others?
I’m not sure if you realize how awesome your impact is.
Anyhow, I was reflecting on this concept this morning on the hill and I thought I’d share what was rolling around in this head as I was huffing and puffing up that dang hill…. still with sore legs from Wednesday. 😉
