Thankful Wednesday from (DCA)

Dear November Project DC family and greater November Project Community

As Thanksgiving Holiday is just around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to share some details with you all about our NPDC community.

During the workouts this week, you may have noticed or participated in building a “thankful tree” as a community.

We built the tree by sharing with each other about:

  1. What are you most thankful for so far in year 2021?
  2. What’s your favorite Thanksgiving Dish (Main or Dessert)?

The responses to the questions above were shared by writing our responses on the fall-colored “leaves” and ultimately building a tree (pictures below).

Some of the common themes that were reflected on the tree were: Family, Friends, Community, and of course TURKEY (Runner-up: STUFFING)!!!

As for me, I’m extremely thankful for this community for the following reasons:

Come as you are –

We often talk about #JustShowUp and we really do mean it.  Anyone is welcomed and embraced for who they are.  I for one do not know what obstacles and life issues one may be facing at any given time or moment. However, I’m darn glad to see and am thankful of anyone who has made a commitment to show up at the workout – we are here for you.

Transparency and Support –

As we traversed through a fluid COVID-19-driven pandemic environment this year, you all have been nothing but a FANTASTIC #freefitness COMMUNITY.  If there was a known case of positive COVID-19 exposure, you reached out to us immediately and kept us in the loop to enable us to get the message out to the community.  We appreciate your transparency and selflessness.

We recently reached out to the community requesting for donations in addition to the #buff cost in order to supplement our National Park Service Permit Fees and other miscellaneous fees.  We are extremely thankful for your generosity and support given to your community.

Most importantly, I’m thankful for every single member of this community for their gift of time. You all have generously volunteered your time to give back to your NPDC community through various capacities (not limited to): #CoatCheck, Guest-Leading, Curating Coffee Locations, Tagging, recruiting random strangers with your “What is November Project?” elevator speech, Race Cheer Stations, holiday runs, etc.

I genuinely appreciate every single member of this community – thank you all for just showing up as you are and making this community better by one burpee and one smile at a time.

#RunHappy, #GobbleGobble and much Love DC,

Young, Jolly, and Foley
