Taking off the #weatherproof badge

Just for a bit.

And, I realize that I don’t have to do this, but I’m happy to explain.

I shared a while back that I haven’t been my best towards the end of last year and into the beginning part of this year. I was cold/flu sick for a bunch of the Fall and, for someone who is immunocompromised, that can be extra dangerous but mostly it’s just not fun (being sick longer and worse than normal). What that lack of immunity led to for me was flareups with my rheumatoid arthritis “friend” who lives inside me.

I saw many of you on mornings when I wasn’t well or on mornings after a flareup episode. Thank you again for your kind words.

These uncontrollable flare ups have forced me to think about me.

Not NP. Not my husband. Not my job. Not working out.

I had to think about me.

For the past several years, RA has forced me to think about me first. Always.

I made major adjustments to get back to living the way I want to live.

In Nov- Jan though, I’ve been forced to think about me. All over again.

So I did.

I started by getting a bit more rest over the holidays.

I sought some medical intervention which I hope doesn’t have to continue.

I’ve also taken steps to head to a warmer climate for two weeks – to test out how my body feels/recovers and to have normal hands for a while. I hope this is a bit of a reset for my body. I also hope two weeks is all that is needed to move forward on a better health path again.

I’ve done it before and I know I can do it again.

Having said that, I don’t feel great about leaving Rob for an extended period. We’ve talked about this for about two months now and we’re both comfy with this life decision.

Though I hope only two weeks are needed, life is sometimes out of one’s hands. Question marks for now…

To keep the “co” part of co-leaders though, we’ve asked our friend and yours, Eric Decorby, to guest co-lead with Rob for the next two weeks.

Yay- thank you Eric. Excited to see you side by side with Rob.

In typical NP style, this photo was taken without a plan and by Rob’s windshield wiper in the parking lot this morning. Thanks Eric for being Rob’s co-pilot!

I don’t think I have much more to say other than I already have FOMO, as I always do when I’m away (for the past 8 years).

I’ll see ya Friday morning for some #hillsforbreakfast.
