Every Tribe has them- those members that are just EXTRA. EXTRA loud, EXTRA enthusiastic, EXTRA happy. Well, in NPDC, we don’t just have a few- we have got a FLOCK. More specifically, a flock of flamingos. One only needs to get to the fringe of a workout before hearing the flamingos natural call- infectious laughter.
This was more of a Push-It kind of Morning
The cold rainy conditions didn’t deter the group who showed up this morning. Between wet exercises, and pushing cars around the parking lot while blasting 80’s top 40 hits it was an amazing morning.
For those that ran the Shamrock Shuffle 8k over the weekend we loved cheering for you. Saw some great PR’s happen.
Chasing PR Ghosts on a foggy day
Of the 24 people at the workout this morning we had 7 PR’s which means almost 30% of the group had their best run in funky muddy conditions.
Don’t forget to log your laps here on the NP Tracker to keep track of your runs.

Spring Awakening (IND)
HAPPY RACE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Spring has [somewhat] sprung, and so has NP Indy! Dishing out (shhhhhh)irts today, we were worried we’d run out with the solid #raceday numbers that showed, which is a good problem to have. Aside from faster times, greater numbers, more than one person wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts, and less laundry, spring also provides us with a wonderful opportunity to grow our tribe. It’s the time of year where people are craving the outdoors, wanting to get moving again, and most notably looking for sweaty hugs from strangers. Fortunately, we can provide all those things.
How Not Showing Up Changed My Life (DCA)
Today we’re very fortunate to have a guest blog from our very own Rachel Storey. Her tale is one many of us are familiar with- the sort of “come to Jesus” moment that accompanies November Project. That crystallization that yes, you belong, not just at workouts but in this Tribe and in this community. We’re here, and we want everyone, regardless of who they are, to know that. Without further ado, here’s Rachel’s story (I COULD’T RESIST!!)
Ninjas: Art of Stealth (ORL)
Silently camouflaged against the sky’s inky backdrop, our warriors set out for specialized covert training.

Our secret techniques to infiltrate Baldwin Park: scale walls and stairs, side-kick + squats, strengthen core with sit-up punches and set fire to our quads with meditative wall-sits.
Sledding through March
A small but determined group showed up this morning to help us through our very first sledding workout. The sleds were fierce and fast. Hill runs were snowy and persistent. Well done & be well. See everyone on Friday.

Gimme Two Sallies and a Ric Flair; WOO!!! (IND)

All the stars came out this morning. There was Ric Flair and Jessie Meranda and Ric Flair. All of them. All there to support the Big Ten Tournament … in Washington, DC. It’s always about DC; always.

Workout
SUICIDES! A little something new cooked up by Jason Shaw, who oddly I don’t see in any of these pics from this morning.
It’s that simple. Just show up.
Words of coleader Travis about our November Project Tribe member & Positivity Award winner Staci:
I am always impressed with how dedicated you are while always keeping an awesome, fun, and snarky attitude! You really are an integral part of this family, and we are extremely glad you’re here! I can’t wait to see what you achieve as you keep pushing your fitness to the next level.
I used to hate running. I still hate running, but I used to, too
“I used to hate running. I still hate running, but I used to, too”
-Adapted from Mitch Hedberg
My Dad loves to tell one of those annoying Dad stories that you’ve heard way too many times that when I played soccer in grade school my favorite position was goalie because it required the least amount of running. As annoying as this story is to hear over and over, sadly it’s true. This disdain for running followed me throughout my “athletic career”. Running was only bearable to me because it lead to the exhilarating feeling of hitting a perfect forehand down the line, sliding into second base after a hard hit liner in the gap, hitting a wide open 3 on the fast break, or even throwing down the lob for an alley-oop #alternatefact. After my stint on the sophomore basketball team in high school my competitive athletic career wound down to a close. My need for running diminished only to be revived on rare occasions for high school and college intramurals and once the sun set on my intramural career I was left without a reason to run.
