Support (YEG)

It never hurts to ask for help and it never hurts to offer help. Some days asking is simply not possible and some days your offer can be denied – both ok. We humans are all too complex to always be “on” and I think for a lot of years our society stigmatized negatively the idea of asking for help. In my own perception I’ve seen that change but I know that’s not the case for everyone. I’ve needed a lot support over my life. Be that profession support from deaths in my family or family/friends helping me over the years. It’s safe to say that I am a byproduct of my willingness to accept help and the good will of those around me. I want you to take away that you are not lesser for asking for help. You are also not lesser for not being able to ask for it right now either. From big things to small things you have to do what is right for you no matter what anyone thinks. We are all in this together so just focus on putting good into the world.

I wanted to remind myself of this today. I can see some work decisions coming up that I’m getting some mentoring on, I’ve reached out to a dietician to get myself prepared for this training cycle (I do not eat enough!), and a whole wack of other stuff happening in life.

I hope this reminder is useful for you too. On an NP level we try and incorporate partner work to break down the norms of individualism in fitness. I know it can feel awkward at times and it’s totally ok to not be in the mood but like I’ve said before the best part about NP is that it is here for you when you are ready. Have an amazing rest of your Wednesday, GO OILERS, and…

Keep being awesome,

Rob
