TODAY is the last Wednesday of June.
At the stadium we raced a full tour, as we do on every Last Wednesday of the Month, attempting to do so faster than we ever have before. Based on how long it took Capozzi to take all the individual PR photos, there were a lot of folks out there PRing, and as far as I could tell, everyone else was crushing the attempt today. The crowd was big. We rolled deep at both the 5:30 and 6:30 group and there might have been the biggest Newbie group we’ve ever seen at 6:30.
There was tagging done by the #paintcrew. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the folks who show up for extra time or dedicate their am workout time for tagging while the rest of us enjoy racing our faces off and walking home with fresh AF #grassrootsgear. We couldn’t do it without you, #paintcrew!
DJ Phoenix showed up in full force–not only busting beats perched high above section 19–but also busting out a couple sections between each song. This vibe and this tribe is contagious in the very best way. Looking for a little push to get moving? To stay moving? To enjoy moving? We’ve got you. Thanks badass DJ Phoenix/Laura Ingalls.
As DJ said in a social media post today, she PR’d in fun.
Which is a cool idea. How do you PR in fun? No really, how do YOU set a personal record for having fun while working out? Is it by working the hardest you have and finding a new gear? Is it by actually talking to the people next to you and finally learning the names of those familiar faces you climb stairs next to every week? Or is it by challenging yourself in new ways and keeping the workout fresh and exciting? However you define it, I say this summer is one for PRs in fun.
And while we’re on the topic, how do you PR in kindness? We all know by now that NP was founded on the idea that in a big city (and even in a smallish city) we all tend to get into our own little track, moving here and there with our heads down and it makes the city that is filled with people start to feel quite lonely, isolating, or singular. But by extending kindness in the shape of hugs, high fives, smiles, genuine “I’m glad you’re here” statements that can, but don’t have to extend beyond that into conversations, and other simple gestures of human kindness, we can actually positively impact the world while positively impacting our bodies, our fitness, our overall wellness, and our lives. It could be a good summer to PR in kindness. Hell, let’s take tomorrow — before we all see each other again on Friday, how can you be kinder to other human beings than you were yesterday? Think about that for a minute. Kindness is simple, small, and acts as seeds that grow in others when they receive it. What can you DO to spread the kindness you might feel at NP in an outward direction.
And one more final thought, since we’re talking about PRs. Can you PR in getting outside your normal life “box?” You know, the way we all travel in our normal spaces, interact with our usual people, and maintain our familiar routines? I wonder how we’d be different in awesome and unexpected ways if we allowed ourselves (or challenged ourselves) to move in some new spaces, connect with some people who are less like us, and ruffle the feathers of our personal status quo. I wonder if we stopped only talking only to the people who we think would come to NP if we told them about it and started having genuine conversations with other people about what it means to us. And I’m gonna freak everyone out with this one but what if we stopped trying to RECRUIT people, and started trying to CONNECT with people about how NP is meaningful to you. So if you love how hard it is, excitedly tell people how it kicks your ass and why that’s awesome to you. If you love how social it is, passionately tell people how powerful it is to get hugs from friends and from strangers every MWF mornings before you jump into life for the day. If you love how motivating it is, authentically tell people how the struggle is real in you but that NP helps give you the structure, the accountability, or the kick in the ass to just show up for yourself, and for the tribe. HOnestly, I don’t think people need to be recruited. They need to be seen as fellow human beings who desire to feel healthier, more connected, and more inspired in life. And if that’s what NP does for you, then PR the shit out of telling people about it. All your regulars who have already heard you pitch NP a million times, and also the people who you have to go out of your way to tell about it. The less like you they are, the more likely they haven’t already heard the word.
Let’s keep changing the world, one PR at a time.

Hiya!
Any chance you could tell us where we can find the June 28th 6:30am photos?
Thank you 🙂
The stadium numbers are unreal right now! Amazing!
