Today’s blog post comes to us all from one of our longtime NPers, Christine Loo. Thanks Christine for this reflection.
…. and here’s some hilarious photos too which super hard to curate as pretty much all of our photos are silly and all seem pretty normal for NP #amiright?

I came across the Office of Sarah’s blog post “Needs More Ridiculous” and her thoughts on the absence of fun in our activities, our work, our lives in general.

Why must life be so full of chores and drudgery?

Where is the ridiculous, the frivolous, the fun?

Sarah talks about getting serious about play… and it reminded me of one of the things I love about November Project.

We are SERIOUS ABOUT PLAY.
What does this even mean? How could meeting at 6am in workout gear not be a chore in my life?

For me, it’s little moments that make 6am fun, regardless of the weather, the temperature or the time of year.

It’s when DJ Lazina brings out her best, most ridiculous mix of 90s music. It’s when Rob screams so ridiculously loud at the bounce his voice breaks. It’s showing up in a onesie and knowing there will be other onesies.

It’s dogs wearing NP buffs. It’s being excited about going back to Royal Glenora stairs because it’s still dark enough to wear ridiculous light-up gloves. It’s being told to bring a toboggan. It’s wearing ridiculous outfits. It’s running through high-five lines.

It’s knowing there is a community to be part of at 5:59am. It’s when I can barely follow the bounce instructions because I am laughing too much at the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

It means that sometimes the 6am hour might be the most fun I will have all day. It’s a time to not be a “serious adult.”

And what’s even better is that with all the fun and play packed into a November Project morning, we are staying active, too!

And for me, that’s worth getting up for.
