I am often teased for being a rule follower. Just ask the two boys I live with about my at-times irrational need for our household to follow the organics/recycling/trash rules for Sherwood Park. I mean, we have 3 labelled garbage bins in the house, how hard can it be to put our waste in the right bin?
While I know we like to think of ourselves as being a little rebellious – I mean who wakes up at 5:00 to workout in the pitch black, or in -30 degree weather, or runs through a wading pool creating giant tidal waves that flood out festival grounds? We are also pretty good rule followers and I want you to know that it is really appreciated.
I am so impressed by the number of you who found parking or transportation that allowed us to leave the Royal Glenora Stairs parking open for our downtown commuters. While they may not say thank you, they won’t be cursing us either when they show up and find an open spot instead of boxing us in so they can get to work in time.
I am also impressed with your courtesy and patience on the stairs. It is always a little more crowded on the stairs when we return from Commonwealth. Good job staying close to the rails, giving the right-of-way to the person going up, and for being patient when caught up behind tribe members.
Lastly, thank you for being silent ninjas up at the top of the stairs. It may be a natural consequence of being out of breath after getting to the stair summit and then having to hammer out 10 sit-ups, 10 pushups followed up with 10 burpees but regardless of that, it is respectful to the residents of those condos nearby who don’t’ necessarily want to be woken up by our positivity.
We say it all of the time…the tribe is strong, the tribe is fierce, the tribe is weatherproof…today was a great reminder that the tribe is also…courteous, respectful, grateful (Thanks Michael for organizing the thank you letters) as well as great rule followers…most of the time (all of the time would be boring).
