It’s Monday morning and you know what that means! (which is a good thing, because I don’t)
A few announcements:
- If you missed the Showing Up premiere, you missed out on some very inspiring and tear-jerking intros from our very own Patricia Marik (#fakedoctor), Fereshteh Bashiri (Azi), and John Teich (Teich the Second). You also missed the delicious beer at Third Space, but you should check it out on your own time. Finally, you missed the movie, which is now public and can be viewed here.
- The Power Tower is missing. If found, please call 1-800-555-POWR.
- The Icebreaker Marathon Relay is coming up (less than two months!) and registration is getting tight, if not closed already. Check with Tonieh for info on that, and if nothing else, #justshowup and watch your fellow tribesmen and tribeswomen #raceeverything.
PR Day was a great success – despite the winter closures of stairs, we were able to use the South Stumble Stairs. New Sue helped the stairs live up to their reputation… then continued to crush the workout, going down in history as the most bada$$ PR newbie. Jack, a graceful gazelle, stole the show, to the chagrin of our fast folks, but we still love him because he contributed to our competitiveness.
But it wasn’t just the fastest or the injured that made PR Day great. You all put in your best effort, whatever that meant, and left it all on the field/court/stairs/ground. Due to the new course, you all PRed; take that in! Congratulations, MKE, you’re all amazing. Whenever you feel overwhelmed in work or in life, just think: “I got through PR Day. I got this”. That’s why we challenge ourselves physically; mental toughness of any variety can be applied to the dicey areas of our daily lives.
The first legitimate snow has fallen. DG has pulled out his cross country skis. Milwaukee is cloaked in slush and grumbling walk-commuters. Today, and every day moving forward, flash your pearly whites at anyone who appears to be dealing with seasonal affective disorder (or SAD) – you might just make their day. Keep being the great people we know you are – your goodness can melt any stony heart.
In this holiday season, challenge yourself to do one selfless thing per day. That’s 26 selfless things per person by the new year, which if we assume there are roughly 3,651 of you (based on the number of people who liked the NP MKE Facebook page; this is an underestimation because there will be people from other tribes reading this), that’s 94,926 good deeds done by the end of 2016 #math. You hold a lot of power in your hands. You are a Power Tower. Visualize that power, and then go out and do great things.
