If you didn’t live in DC and you heard about a local scavenger hunt, you would probably expect the list of items to include a museum, a monument, and a memorial. To me, that just sounds like the start of a bad joke. For those of use that live here, DC is SO MUCH MORE…
The #RecTheDistrict scavenger hunt is a collab between November Project DC and the DC Dept. of Parks and Rec where we combine some #FreeFitness, a little friendly competition, and a race against the clock. We’ll be in the SW neighborhood, starting at Randall Recreation Center, and teams (of 3-5 people) will have 90 minutes to check off as many items as they can. But this is no ordinary list. You might have to get out of your comfort zone, take some pictures/videos, and share your experience on social media.
Here’s what YOU need to do: Tell everyone you know about this AWESOME and FREE scavenger hunt happening this weekend! Form a team, come by yourself, or bring a friend or two. This is the perfect opportunity for a FREE social event with your friends. To all those that say morning workouts aren’t their thing, this is the perfect opportunity to check out the November Project vibe. The alarm clock is hard for all of us. But when you know what’s waiting for you at a November Project workout, it’s worth it!
WHEN: 1:30-3PM (but Rec Day is 11am-4pm so feel free to come early and take a look around!)
NOTES: Hard copies of the checklist will be provided. Biking is allowed but at least one person on each team must be on foot. Total distance shouldn’t be more than 3-5 miles. Your team cannot complete tasks at locations unless everyone is there. Post your photos and/or videos on either Twitter or Instagram and make sure the person posting has a public account so we can see it! Tag us and be sure to use the hashtags #FitDC, #DPRRECDAY, and #NP_DC.
We hope to see you and all your friends out there!
I heard there are prizes.
I’ve never been to November Project or a DC Rec Center. Can I still come?
YES. Everyone is welcome. All ages, all levels of fitness! And bring your friends. The more, the merrier!
I don’t have a team and all my friends are being lame and don’t want to join. What should I do?
No worries! People can form teams beforehand OR at the event. We’ll make sure you have a team!
How can I learn more info about November Project?
Feel free to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! Also, check out the website for lots of info about who we are and what we do. Videos like this one or this one are great too! Lastly, if you have 27 free minutes, watch our short film.
