Raise Your Bar (YEG)

I like to read the news everyday to see what is happening in the world. And I find that, more and more, that I see examples how not to act. The bar is low. But, what we rarely see, are examples of how you should want to act. I’d say that we all fall somewhere in between.

Just because the bar has been lowered, doesn’t mean that we should lower our bar. We should all be striving to be better than we were yesterday. And I’m not really talking about speed here. I’m talking about being a good person. We’ve talked before about how your speed does not define you. People care more about the person you are, not how fast you can run a 5k.

They say that your true character shows when times are tough. It’s easy to be a good person when everything is going your way. Maybe you had a bad run… maybe you just spilled coffee all over yourself… maybe you bit into a rotten red delicious apple… Pout to yourself for a minute, then get over it. And put on a brave face and go back to being a good person. The person you cut off in traffic has no idea, nor do they care that you just had a bad run. If you put out enough good energy into the world, it will return back to you in one form or another. Keep being nice for the sake of being nice.

OR… as Andrew likes to say, don’t be a dick.

Find the Good,

Nadim

Announcements

Friday – Walterdale hill at 6am. (You’d think we wouldn’t have to keep reminding you where we meet every time by now.) We’ll also be tagging some fresh grassroots gear. Bring one light coloured T-shirt and we’ll tag it. Friday is also the final day for #NPGiveback. The OMC crew will be collecting whatever you bring this Friday.
