As the fog rolled in over the Fort, the co-leaders waited tensely for their Tribe. We were worried, as you see this was no normal Monday morning at #StormTheFort. The Tribe we waited for was a tribe divided… a tribe divided over a sports game. A game of football as they call it.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, DRUMROLL PLEASE!!! In the red corner, we have the mid-Westerners: Novisiki, Natalie, Akinjide, Adrienne and the lad who seem to be their ring leader, Mitch “HugLife” Westwood. A motley crew to say the least! In the green corner, we have the most badass pair of ducks, Kunkle and Chambers. Well we didn’t have Lydia this morning, she was off demolishing a forest of Buckeyes or something… with her bare hands (Note: a buckeye is a tree, right? Not the number… an actual tree. I did my research).
Anyhuuu… Oregon vs OSU. Ducks vs Buckeyes. Kunkle vs Westwood. We feared the worst. Was this going to be a rift down the middle of our community, our tribe, our family? 6.28AM rolls by. The sun starts to emerge, the fog starts to clear. Shit was about to go down!! But wait, where the battle we were expecting to see? Instead, we had a monumental moment… a critical juncture in the history of NPSF…. a truce…. a hug! 54 of you showed up to witness the almighty hug that shook the masses, a record attendance at a NPSF Monday workout!
To celebrate the hug heard around the world, this reunited tribe will come together and watch this football game (football? They barely even kick the ball?). Paddy even decided to do some research and scope this sport out on the Youtube. There was 11 men out on the field, so was this a soccer game? But they’re using a odd-shaped football, was this a rugby game? But the rugby ball was teeny tiny, was this a kids rugby game? But the players were built like brick houses? What are they feeding the kids over here? They’re all huge though, why are they wearing all these pads? Rugby players only wear a gum shield. Delving into a few more highlight reels soon answered that question…
So join us tonight at Bitters, Bock & Rye on Polk St to watch the National Championship. Game kicks off at 5.30pm. This guy will be there from 4.30pm to try grab a table! GO FOOTBALL!
In the meantime, Paddy is going to lie down for a bit. Three hours of Sunday night stencil cleaning with eco-green paint thinner and tagging 30+ shirts this morning may have took it’s toll on the brain cells of the Irishman. That’s definitely the case if the incomprehensible muddle of sentences above is anything to go by!
We’ll see you on Wednesday at Alta Plaza Park.
EARLY GROUP WITH LONG-LEGGED CLAYTON: 5:30AM
