DENVER NOTES:

  • Contrary to this morning’s workout, NP5280 management did not get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
  • That shit was hard.  Alli Bell almost puked.
  • Dan Berteletti is a machine.  Literally.  He will do burpees until you press his stop button.  When you find it, let us/Julia know.
  • Sometimes I get nervous and flatulate when I run.  Sorry for those who ran behind me at any point this morning.

I got a text this morning from one of my best friends who is a core NPDC member.  You know him, you love him, you like his photos.  His name is Anzur.  His mom calls him Matt.  Others call him Manzur.  He is great.  He reminded me that this morning is his 3rd NP anniversary.  I immediately pulled to the side of the road while driving home from the workout so I could text him #safetythirdorfirst.

Anzur and I have been friends since our freshman year of college.  I won’t go into detail about how long that was and how different we were as individuals back then.  A lot of shit has changed.  After college we went our separate ways to live our lives, staying in occasional contact, mostly for friends’ weddings.  We reconnected a few months prior to either of us knowing about NP.  I moved back to Denver as he was putting down roots in DC and we began our simultaneous NP journeys together.

Over the last 3 years, Anzur and I have become closer than we ever were during college.  To save you the details and my eventual sobbing, I’ve savored our journeys together with this movement every step of the way.

At NP, we’re always encouraging you to stare at, hug, or boop the nose of someone you don’t know.  While there are obvious benefits (finding your forever love, etc.) to these strange interactions, I think I’ve lost sight, at times, of the more familiar ones.

All of this to say that NP is an incredible vehicle for so many things.  Most of all, it’s about the people you meet.  Hug a stranger, boop their nose, make fish lips and tell them you’re glad they’re here.  At the same time, remember to savor those relationships you may have already had, or those that are already deep in your bones, and work to make them deeper.  We’ll all be better for it!

Don’t lose that vibe.  Don’t fake that funk.
