Naive? Ignorant? Not sure those fit. Stupid? Blind? Yeah, those words work better for this morning.
For those who missed this morning’s workout, it started as it always does, in a layer of fog and pitch black creepiness. We all stood around whispering, holding hands, introducing ourselves to one another with way too much proximity. As the workout began, the sun did not budge. It slept in this morning. So we continued on, cautiously negotiating the stairs with care not to bust our ass. Since technically I am supposed to take photos and the lighting was shit (for a phone camera) I decided instead to take close ups.
I started with the post-marathon gang. It’s a new thing. After a hard race people show up and lay in savasana until the workout is over. As I began taking head shots I realized most people were wearing green shirts. “How weird! You guys all wore green today!” I exclaimed, continuing on to the next group. I didn’t get it.
Over to Kylie and Charles. Took their photo. I again said “I can’t believe all the people wearing green today”, like the oblivious fool that I am. I believe it was Kylie who then said “It must be a St Paddy’s day thing.” Um, no, Kylie. That is months away. Psh. Idiot. I didn’t get it.
So being the really intelligent person that I am, I took a few more photos and singled out green shirt people. I mean, it isssss my favorite color. It wasn’t until we were forming the finisher’s tunnel that I made a THIRD comment about the green shirts (just embarrassing myself at this point) when RAD responds with “Yeahhh, I don’t know whyyyyy people would be wearing green today.” I got it.
So thank you to everyone who had the intentions of giving Connor and I a welcoming return to NP as the Green’s, but instead just exposed me for the clueless leader that I am. You guys are the best (especially the Thoughtful Committee (TC) of Tantek and Lil) and make it really easy to return to the real world!
